Velocity Returns

My name is Alexander West. You've known me as Velocity and as Tachyon. You've witnessed my whole journey up until this moment. You've seen my wants, my love; my regrets...my fears. You know me through and through. You also know that I've made mistakes, done bad if not horrible things, and there's no excuse for that. But now that's all gone, I'm gone. My own choices led to me being erased. Zapped. Adios. *Sigh* But it wasn't the end, because my son stepped up, and he saw something, and he set things in motion...and now I'm coming back, but I may not be the man you remember....not for a while at least.

I hope I do things right this time.

In Key City 16-year-old Alex West stood outside The day was postcard-perfect, even the buses were running on time. Downtown the skyscrapers shone silver and gold in the platinum moon and the sky was an unbroken backdrop of beautiful blacks. It was a fine day in Key City Nebraska. The random occurrences of storms had washed every sidewalk and gutter clean and a tincture of freshness still lingered in the air within the country part of where Alex lived. But even from here he could tell the vibrancy of the city had bounced back in the instant the clouds cleared, and his sea-green eyes shined brightly in the darkness.

Things had been different for Alex, he had been seeing things, been hearing things, every time there was a distant roar of thunder Alex didn't flinch, he felt it was calling to him. Every time the thunder seemed to come closer.

But now the sky was clear, and Alex sat in the grass in his front yard humming softly to himself. Most teenage boys would be inside doing something weird with their time but not Alexander, he lived alone with no parents (Something he saw as very strange) but he had no recollection of either of them, it bothered him more then he could ever let on.

He sat in the grass. His voice humming, his mouth smiling when he heard the first rumble of thunder. "Damn it. Not again." But Alex's cries were lost beneath the thunder that rolled overhead. The sky began to drop so low that even outside on the hills Alex begun to feel claustrophobic. Alex began to curse slightly but his words clipped by another oppressive boom. He rose to his feet and began to walk towards his house when he heard the voice, his voice. Older more experienced. Not like the shy timid boy Alex was now. The voice's whispering grew louder until it was almost a constant scream in his ear.

I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity, I am Velocity.

The ground shook deeply underneath the young redheads' feet and he scrambled backward in fear as he felt the floor beneath him rumble deeply. A boom deeper than a rocket resounded through the sky leaving Alex shivering with fear.

Unnatural humming, cracking the rain-laden air, like great iron trees, electricity stalking away into the horizon. Alex could hear it. Unknown to him the Speed Force was right next to him, charging him. Prepping his body for what was to come next. And as the next storm of lightning came flashing through the sky, zigzagging through the clouds one bolt decided to make it's mark. And instead of just vanishing with the others....

It came straight down.

And it Stuck Alex West.

When the lightning hit him, Alex felt his whole body stop. He was surrounded by white light as the world began to move in slow motion. The world seemed to freeze and Alex's eyes rolled into the back of his head

Alex's whole body felt as if he had been putting himself in a light socket. His skin boiled and bubbled and though the burns on his body look insignificant. The damage done by the heat is more than skin deep. The electrical burns shot through his body and caused serious internal damage, especially to his muscles, heart, and his brain.

The deed had been done and now Alex was dying in the front yard of his house. His breathing was beginning to slow, his heart was beginning to stop. But the Speed Force had other plans. Because even as he lay there fading from life. His string of existence being cut -Alex's wounds were beginning to heal- His skin went from scarred and boiling to pearly white and extremely smooth. His heart rate picked up, speeding like a train, his muscles went from ruined to perfect; beyond perfect.

The faintest trace of electricity was able to be seen from Alex's skin as he stirred.

And then he opened his eyes.

They were filled to the brim with electricity.
