I will be surprised if it won't bomb. 400M max. Could be wrong, but that's my bet.

What Claremont intended was the best - He was a traumatized individual, hunted by tragic events whenever he went, to a point where it drove him mad, through madness (that combined with abuse of powers) he became a mad villain, after recovering his sanity, started to see his ways of achieving the goal were deadly and ineffective, started to recover but still maintained the edge for violence. So you could say it's an antihero.

From there he wasn't supposed to be a villain again, but cyclic nature of comics ruined this organic and magnificent arc.

Anti-hero. And not half assed 14 years girl's anti hero Lobdell wrote, but more Punisher like. One that would really want to "wipe out" criminals with extreme prejudice.

Between Spiderman and Batman.

Superman could be even more recognizable and iconic than both, but commercially he isn't there for reasons we could all speculate.

I am not gonna call a movie where the main character is not smart enough to get his ally to use a mcguffin that weakens him and instead sacrifices himself for no better reason than plot as “ahead of its time”.

If you want to be fair, he didn't even know the mcguffin existed.

I don't remember enjoying superheroes like that in a long time.

Impressive.

You’re right about the editing. I mentioned it in the review.

True. Good review, I agree with most.

HARD HITTING OPINION:

The subversive Captain America should've been played by Chris Evans. Or Chris Hemsworth. I kinda liked the idea of self-mockery to the point where they started comparing themselves to "superheroes" in a satirical, meta form. That could be a perfect opportunity to embrace the trope. There was a super soldier for F's sake.

What a missed opportunity. They do have Aquajoker, Wonder Mossad Woman, Captain Nobody, Black Supergangsta, and I think I can go on with all those Bald One Punch Men Club aka The Diesel, The Rock, and The Mechanic. At this point this franchise is more absurd than most comics I've read and more proudly cliched too.

On a side note, am I the only one who thought FX suffered from terrible editing? There were scenes that could be completely avoided to create more space to make things smoother and feel less overbloated. But, who am I kidding, the more chaoticly random, the better must be the rule, judging by the final product lol
