Hawkeye. I really liked Renner as Hawkeye, and I wanna see more of him in the next movie, but in the first Avengers movie, he spent most of his screen time under Loki's control. It would be good to see him have a much more heroic presence in Age of Ultron, and that might result in a sacrifice. As long as they make it matter and don't send him off like Cyclops in X-Men: The Last Stand, I'll be happy.

Huh... I don't even think he was in the rumor pool. I won't lie, I was hoping for Richard Armitage or Jon Bernthal, but this is the way it turned out, and I think some people are forgetting when they freak out that there was mass hysteria and petitions for Michael Keaton AND Heath Ledger. I'm not saying that makes any guarantees about Affleck, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Plus, Argo was really good.

@lordrequiem: Kryptonite was left out of Man of Steel. That doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist, and frankly, it would be crazy for them to do that.

I know it's wishful thinking, but I hope it remains a Superman movie with Batman in it, since this is apparently the only movie that will follow up on Man of Steel, which left a lot to be addressed for Superman. There's still a lot of stuff that the world has to deal with post-Zod, and Clark, too. I would hate for Batman to come striding in after an extraordinarily popular film trilogy and shove Superman out of the spotlight on what will hopefully be his second decent movie in thirty years. There's nothing wrong with making Batman a supporting character, guys. I'd like to see Lex Luthor using the paranoia and fear in the fallout of the General Zod incident to turn the world against Superman. It honestly wouldn't be that hard for him, and even Batman could get caught up in it. It's not like Batman's ever been the most trusting guy out there. Have him stay in the shadows, maybe have a brief fight with Superman early on, but mostly just keep his distance from the characters and the viewer. Let him be mysterious in a movie for once. It's what he's good at. By the end, they could have him standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Superman, helping him fight Luthor and some secondary villain (either Metallo or Parasite, for my money), and be one of the first people to really put their faith and trust in Superman. That way, his presence would actually progress the story instead of just being there for the "shut up and take my money" effect.

Regardless, I'm still experiencing five-year-old kid levels of excitement.

@_marco_smith_: No wonder you and him stopped hanging out. Otherwise, who knows what might've happened to you?

For years in comics, Superman comes up with easy, effortless solutions to all his problems without real conflict or sense of peril- people say he's boring.

HISHE makes a joke about how he could have solved his problems easily and effortlessly without any conflict or sense of peril- half the site says it would make a better movie.

I was simply shocked by how many people harped on the flashbacks. They acted as if it was too confusing and jarring to follow the story, but most of them were the same people who were complaining before the movie released that they didn't want to see the whole origin story again. It's as if they suddenly forgot what non-linear storytelling was when they decided that they wanted to hate this movie. Just goes to show that you can't appease people who have already decided to hate the thing you're giving them. I believe it was Mahatma Gandhi who said, "Haters gonna hate." In the end, you just can't get bogged down in the hate. If you like it, no one can stop you, and if they're the kind of person who can't respect your opinion and needs to know that you're as unhappy about everything as they are, then you need to get off the internet right away, 'cause it's PACKED with those people. If somebody else wants to stay on the ground forever, that's their problem. Me?

The characterization of Pa Kent was off in my opinion. When I first heard him respond 'Maybe' in the trailer, I assumed that there was a 'but...' in that line that got cut off to fit the three minutes, but overall, he was just leaning a little too far to the side of protecting his son that it more often than not made it seem as though he was encouraging Clark to be ashamed of his powers.

Honestly, I can get past Superman killing Zod. I wish they hadn't done it. I REALLY wish they hadn't done it, but the circumstances (the fact that Superman was young and inexperienced, and the world wasn't really looking to him as an example yet) and Zod's characterization in the final scene (saying that his purpose in life, his entire reason for existing was gone and his only remaining motivation is to kill Superman, kill everyone on Earth, and then presumably kill himself) cushioned the blow a little bit.

I'm not just saying this as a fanboy, but as somebody who understands the basics of a character arc, it would've been better for the story if Superman had proven Zod wrong, that neither of them had to die. Okay, I'm mostly saying it as a fanboy, but that still would've been a better way to show his ascension into the role of Superman. It would be more compelling to see him struggle to find a better way. That's always what's intrigued me about Superman, not the fact that he's simply good, but that he finds a way to be good, no matter how bad the situation.
