I have no problem with this sort of thing. I can tell you how this will change Jim, because much like bruce he will begin to doubt the justice system of Gotham, the biggest thing in this which alot of people with exception to this article has been shying away from. Batman working for the government. If this works out for jim and when bruce finally returns cause the fanatics won't have it any other way, Who says that the city would be accepting of the original batman coming back. especially when you have people like the penguin who would obviously bribe or blackmail officials to keep batman away from his plans or schemes.

We all know bruce will come back. its not a shock. we would be lying to ourselves if we thought otherwise. But in the meantime I will enjoy story which is to show the core example why batman does what he does. why he works outside of the law.
