Been out of the loop a bit since the Krokoa-Era started....what new pushed him to go full heel, or is it more of his O5 style "i know whats best and i dont need permission"

at a certain point you have to suspend disbelief. We are talking about a series where a man's eyeballs are gateways to a dimension of pure concussive force....science isn't going to be able to fully explain comic abilities.

He has special gene that lets him do whatever the writers decide falls vaguely enough in the ballpark of "magnetism"

Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but im looking forward to see how it goes. Kitty is the one character outside of Scott that Emma has a genuine connection with, even if its mostly hurling insults back and forth historically. I want to see more of the Frenemies

I'm just chalking up Vulcan's childlike behavior and everyones acceptance as yet another case of writers handwaving previously crossed moral event horizons. "Emma blew up a ship full of Inhumans? well we decided we didn't want to go full villain with her after all so just ignore it"

I mean, in universe we can probably explain it as Xavier using an appropriate old template, but its still very jarring, and its not just him...Storm and many others feel very odd in this new House of X status quo.

Going to pass on commenting on the Summers house living arrangements. More than likely we are just going to get more ship-tease and pointless drama since the writers know large portions of the comic fandom cant resist shipping. The giant Jean/Scott/Emma thread is proof enough

I will say so far that I enjoy how Cyclops is being presented. Even though he isn't politically in charge he still comes off as a leader in the field, overriding Magneto's desire to chase the transhumant in favor of completing the mission.

@hopesummersforthefuture You know hope, you've been involved in dozens of these massive ship discussions, but that post there I think was one of the ones that's come closest to convincing me, and I don't know what it is about it since those thoughts aren't exactly "new" to the discussion, maybe because acknowledging the issues with Jott isn't something you normally do...

I it did highlight one of the problems with Scemma for me. They both helped each other in similar ways that the Jean/Scott relationship did....Scott was much more out of his shell than he ever was with jean, but ONLY around Emma. Around everyone else he was supreme-leader-rightclops, which was a dynamic I enjoyed so I didn't think about it in this regard.

For Emma it wasn't keeping her grounded due to possessing a cosmic force, it was constantly reminding her that she was a good person and confronting her insecurities.....but that was again ONLY something that was done by the two behind closed doors. In public Emma constantly maintained her queen-bitch persona and never really opened up to anyone else.

They both helped each other in the same way really, but it only ever translated to anything between the two of them personally

I have a thing for that the kind of dynamic, where strong hardliners go soft when privately with their significant other, so its definitely part of the Scott/Emma appeal to me, but honestly cant really be considered an overall positive thing since its that very thing that isolates them from other characters.

So....is that it? Hope herself says Jott is not perfect, everyone knows Scemma isn't perfect. Both have positives and negatives, risks and benefits. Is the thread over?

Same is true for really all the short comedy film series....HISHE, honest trailers, CinemaSins, pitch meeting, ect.

Its entertainment first, not a serious critique of the works...not saying there aren't legitimate problems with this or others, but I always just view these for an easy laugh

went with that angle under the assumption that everything had to overall shake out the same way with AvX and their eventual break-up...you get a bit more freedom if you break free from that restriction.

It is hard though considering the two were basically on the exact same page and wavelength during Utopia-era. They really were a package deal

Namor and Emma I was never worried about. She shut him down hard everytime he tried something in her right mind.

@LordMordor: Lol its true somehow she's one of the few that has kept with it all these years.

Ehh I kinda agree with what you're saying but my questions is how do you think they should have done it so that she could've stood out more on her own while working on the team?

Its a tough thing to pull off assuming we still want everything to play out the way it did. The problem with Utopia period was you only had room for so many viewpoints to still maintain the idea that the mutants were one unified army/nation/people. Scott was the final authority over the entire Utopia branch during that time period, and his hardline stance was well and truly shared by Emma.

Plus after the whole Dark X-Men thing with her betraying Norman Osborn's cabal, the two had their big "no more secrets between us" moment.

I would say the best opportunity would have been after X-force was discovered and he agreed that it was going to far even for the militaristic approach he was taking. Logan at the time disagreed and continued it without Scotts knowledge. Instead, id say have Emma be the one to continue it, without Scotts knowledge. Have her covertly manage the darkest parts of Utopia...black ops squad, hidden prisoners in the X-brig. She in this case is betraying his trust in her even after their big moment, but she isn't doing it from a place of malice, but in trying to help in her own way.

Could even serve a dual purpose since at the end of AvX the phoenix influences on the two pushed them both to betray the other. Scott finding that Emma had betrayed his trust not only before the Phoenix influenced her, but after the two had vowed to keep no more secrets would be much more palatable way for Scott to decide that their relationship had to end during Bendis's uncanny...instead of Scott hypocritically blaming her for something she did while possessed when he spent the entire run defending himself as not being in his right mind due to phoenix.

Basically, play up Emma trying to help Scott's cause...but doing it in a manner that even Scott would not agree to but that she felt was necessary, and in doing so sabotaging their relationship after the breach of trust. She is able to accomplish things on her own independent of Scott while still serving his overall goal. And for Scott it allows him to reach out for her help with the revolution, but helps make him keeping her at arms length despite her trying to mend the fence more understandable
