I haven't done a blog post here in a while, but now I'm back, and I'm here with a review of a book that later got adapted to a comic - Michael Moorcock's Hawkmoon series - starting with the first book, The Jewel in the Skull, with images from the comic used to illustrate the story of the novel.
This week I have another book review, covering one of the nominees for this year's Hugo Awards, but, sadly, not this year's winner - The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, by N. K. Jensen. I also do a break down of the various facets of the fantasy genre.
This week I have another book review, taking on the 2011 John W. Campbell Memorial Award Winning Novel The Dervish House (that's a mouthful), by Ian McDonald (which is also up for a Hugo Award). I'm also going to give my thoughts on the Cyberpunk genre and what makes a work Cyberpunk (at least in my book).
This week I have my first video book review, of David Eddings' "The Diamond Throne" - one of those books that you might have read in High School or Middle School. If you don't want to admit you read it as a kid, that's okay. If you actually didn't read it, that's okay too.
We've gotten the results of Brown vs. EMA, and California's law that would censor video games has been overturned, in a ruling that could potentially also strengthen protections for comics and manga as well. Here are my thoughts on the ruling and my message to the bill's sponsor, Sen. Leland Yee.
