Like all the Promethean Giants, Prodigian was once chained in the Promethean galaxy for transgressions against the Source.
Eons later, Metron attempted to free him in order for him to release Darkseid from the Source wall. To his, and Prodigian's, astonishment, Metron found that the giant was already release by a mysterious benefactor. Nevertheless, Prodigian agreed to take Darkseid's place in the wall in order for Darkseid to be released. However, when Prodigian reached out to pull Darkseid, he was tricked by his benefactor, who revealed himself to be Mars, and was instead forced to take place of Ares, counterpart to Mars also imprisoned in the wall. While Darkseid was soon released from the wall by further machinations on Metron's part, Prodigian still remains part of the wall.
