    Pride

Character » Pride appears in 35 issues.

Nothing is known of Pride other than that he was the first Homunculi made and that he seems to have a significant amount of control over the other six of his brethren. It is later revealed by Hoenheim that his design most closely resembles that of Father's first form and that it would make sense to call him pride since in that form Father was at the peak of his pride.

    Short summary describing this character.

Pride last edited by pikahyper on 02/05/19 10:11AM View full history

He is known simply as Pride the arrogant a well earned tittle and the most revered of all the homunculus. Even his own 'brother' Greed refused to recognize him as nothing more than a monster. He is menacing aura to himself that is extremely disturbing for a person of his age(although he is close to four hundred years old but only appears as a young boy)

    Personality

Like his name suggests Pride is extremely arrogant, confident in his own abilities. He often fails to see the strength in others especially humans. He lacks empathy towards others and was shown to devour his own 'brother' Gluttony when the battle wasn't going his own way, claiming that it wasn't a true act of cannibalism since they had all once been a single being within father.

    Powers

Pride's powers allow him to shape and meld the shadows around him, as they are an extension of his true form which resembles a black void with multiple eyes and teeth. He can shape the edges of these shadows to the point where they can clean cut metal or strangle a person to death. He's also able to form the teeth in his shadows to the edge, so he can ''cut'' through almost anything. He's even able to cut through multiple fullgrown trees with ease. When he devoured Gluttony's philosopher's stone into himself he gained his ability to track others from their scent.

    Other Media

    Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)

In the 2003 anime, Fullmetal Alchemist; King Bradley is the homunculus Pride, rather than Wrath. This is due to the changes made in the show as it deviated from its souce material to create its own storyline. While his Homunculi name changed, his role stays relatively the same as his manga counterpart.

Although, Selim himself does make an appearance in the final three episodes of the show, only to be killed in the series finale.

Selim was voiced by Makoto Tsumura in the Japanese dub and Zarah Little in the English dub.

    Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009)

Since Brotherhood follows the manga's story closer, Selim appears as the Homunculi Pride. Giving him a larger role in the show compared to the original 2003 show.

Pride is voiced by Yuko Sanpei in the Japanese dub and Brittney Karbowski in the English dub.
