It looks pretty cool. I havent read the comic yet, but this makes me want to read it and check out this show.
I understand people are fans of this comic and love it, but you are dumb as dirt if you ever thought you were gonna get a pure adaption of the comic on a Cable TV Show. Like your expectations for these sort of things need to be toned down and realistic or you're always going to walk away disappointed.

@lukehero: Realistic expectations are for chumps and casuals.

@lukehero: Typically I have low or often no expectations of adaptations. The older I get, the less keen I am on seeing a thing I like cross into the realm of live action.
Looks okay, not straight Ennis, but that was never an option on AMC. Hopefully it's not as dour looking as it seems. Great cast from the look of things, loving Gilgun already as Cassidy. I really hope Saint of Killers and Herr Starr shows up at some point.
MISFITS REUNION.
That is all.
Hell yeah!!

Damn right!

I hate when they avoid mentioning the supernatural parts of the story just to reach a slightly wider audience. I would love it if they took the risk to explain Jesse Custer's abilities, it will be interesting to see how it goes when things start to go all Genesis and Lucifer on them.
Hardly a pure adaptation of the comics but I have a feeling that it's gonna be a great show. After all, this is AMC we're talking about.
I know it is the best they could do with adapting Preacher...and that is exactly why they should not adapt it!
I've read the comic a bunch of times and I actually liked the trailer. Seems like they know what they're doing. Can't wait. Oh and I don't care about the 'changes' at all..
I thought "Preacher" would be a little too violent and profane for a movie. I never thought it would be a TV show. I guess I am very curious to see how this works out. I will definitely give it a try in honor of good old Ennis!
I can't tell if Cass' accent will blend in the background with time, or annoy the heck out of me all season....
I all fairness of what people in the comments have said, Disappointment was my expectation. I new that AMC wouldn't have the balls to have a 100% adaptation of the comic. Consider this, they are a station that has mad Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead and even with that in mind I and everyone new that they couldn't do this. Jesse isn't some vigilantly, He's a simple town preacher that gets possess and gains the power to make whatever he says reality. He tells someone to go screw themselves they'll rip off there own...you know, and do it.
If AMC wants to make there own story, they can make there own story. If they want to adapt, adapt. I just don't want to see the tagline that this is the show fans agree is a good adaptation, because from this trailer it isn't.
This is going to be a very loose adaptation of the comic, but that's ok. I just hope it's a good show.
I'm torn on this one.
From what I understand, (Spoilers) Preacher ends with the title character killing God, and I'm pretty sick of the anti-God propaganda coming from Hollywood.
On the other hand, I own the first twelve issues of Preacher many of which are trading for hundreds of dollars just in anticipation of this show, so it would be really nice financially if this show became the next Walking Dead.
As far as the trailer itself, it looks interesting but doesn't seem to be taking much from the comics. I wonder if they'll gradually wok it in or if this will be an adaption in name only.
@mrbleu: as Rudy once said....."would you like to see my penis?"
God I loved that show.
I have not read the comic but to my understanding the comic have a very heavy supernatural presence... this seems to have 0 of that. I understand that adaptations are just that... but walking dead did not take out the zombies for a super-flu... why remove all the magic from this? I really hope its only the trailer not showing it off and not what it appears (that is has nothing)
Judging by the trailer, it looks good. But there are some noticeable changes here. Jesse Custer's look is slightly different, though fine. The good thing is that he has that Texan accent. However, Cassidy doesn't have shades to cover his eyes. And his accent doesn't sound Irish to me. I'm not sure about Tulip though. We'll get to see more of her, once the show airs.
Oh yeah, do we get to see Preacher's red eyes when he controls people's actions? If not, I guess that's fine. It doesn't have to be.
I thought Preacher was about him trying to literally find God? Not being a mercenary disguised as a priest?

I guess you didn't notice Cassidy, the irish vampire in the trailer....
@handofprometheus: indeed
I heard someone say that show going start off with Jessie not having Genesis within him and during mid season finale he gets Genesis or something like that. Sounds dumb to me but if it's going be a good show I will give it a try.
The show better not be some bootlegged version of an amazing comic and they better do Angelville justice.
If I they ever say "c**ksmoker" on this show, I'll have a few minutes of pain from smiling too much.
Though I am quite worried about the amount of censorship that the Preacher comic will be put through since it's on AMC, I'm still excited about my favorite comic story-line being adapted into a tv series.. The trailer doesn't look like it has much relation to the comic, but I'll withhold my comments until the first episode. I hope it does well.
