Criminal Drama
Where do i start? A female superhero guest star refusing to slip out of her dress, because she's not wearing anything underneath? Or Power Man and Iron Fist, on bodyguard duty at a debutante ball? Good thing they happened to be there though, for trouble is sure to follow in the last pages of a superhero comic! One awesome lady-supervillain?? girl punch knockout by the 16 year old that was supposed to be under protection?
No, my favourite part had to be Iron Fist in that suit. 70's Danny Rand, in his awesome disco outfit was like the sexiest man in comics (and i'm not even making fun here, LOOK at him!) Nightwing may have TRIED to look that good, but baby,... Iron Fist! Well, he out-does his own sense of sexy disco-monk swag in this issue!
The villains aren't too bad. There's a second generation electro-buzz and a tank that had once tangled with Power Man, working for a very take charge gal! She also manages to manipulate 2 olympic/athletics themed youngsters to act as her escorts to the ball. So that's 5 against 2 for the most part. Of all places a superhero would be stuck in, they had to be at a deubtante ball. Not only is that a girl's event, it's a kid's party. Well, i suppose it's more in the adult category of parties. Still,... Well i haven't read enough Heroes for Hire to say if all of them go this way, or if this is the worst comic relief or "filler" issue ever! This issue reminds me of JLE where things get screwed up so bad that it's funny. Or when Beetle and Booster take a break as BUSINESS partners to make some dirty profits, no not dirty, but... un-ethical? Even though JLE happened years later.
As a comic from 1984,.. it's interesting to see the size of the print and the quality of paper. I'm into that ever since i tried printing something and found out how it worked. The writers are something to talk about too,.. Denny O'Neil, creator of the League of Shadows, wrote this. And well,.. i guess i really didn't have to say anymore, :/
