new costume sucks........
Power Girl
Character » Power Girl appears in 1722 issues.
Kara Zor-L is the older, wiser, and stronger counterpart of Supergirl from Earth 2 but resides on the Prime Earth.
How many of you are sad with the new Power Girl costume.

I find it problematic that you can't actually tell it's Power Girl.
I had no problem telling that it was Power Girl. Recognized her instanly. Just saying.

Took me the longest time to figure out that that was a p on her cape.
Thank you! I actually had not figured that out yet. I just kept wondering what the two yellow stripes were for. :)

I like it, since this is Earth 2, i'm assuming this is a "golden age" type history, in the past people weren't so open minded as today, so she wouldn't be walking around with a giant hole in her shirt, it's practical..what i don't like is the hair

Ugh, really guys? There is more to a character than her cleavage.
@CitizenBane said:
Not the point. The reasoning for her not covering up that window was that she really couldn't care less about what people thought. She was a flying indestructible mass of "I-don't-give-two-sh!ts-what-you-think-I'm keeping-it". And now that's gone.

Has nothing to do with the fact that you cannot see cleavage, and any insinuation otherwise is baseless accusation. What disturbs me is that she in no way resembles her pre-Flashpoint incarnation. Superman is fine. Supergirl is fine. Conner is fine. This is just...not cool I think. In truth she looks more like Suprema. Had Huntress not been next to her or the title be "World's Finest"...I've have not known this was PG.
You guys gotta get with your comic history a little bit more. Stegman is probably closest to correct, concerning the golden age sensibilities. The original design did not have a cleavage window. The "I don't care what others think, and I think if I got it, I should flaunt it" attitude was actually manufactured (in an issue of JSA) way after the cleavage window appeared, just to have it make sense beyond gratuitous cleavage.
...Kind of like that infamous panel in one of the Spidey titles, where Tony Stark and Peter Parker spend a page explaining away a gaping plothole in the storyline, then "look at the reader" as if to say, "Okay? Can we move on now?" The "I don't care" attitude about her cleavage was that same sort of explanation, as an excuse to keep the cleavage window... because really, if DC just arbitrarily got rid of the cleavage window, they can't win. They either get complaints about being prudish, for taking it away, or get complaints that by taking it away, they are admitting it was a perverted design to begin with. Kind of like what is happening now. Only, bizarrely, it is being hidden behind a "woman's right to flaunt it" or a "lack of sexual tolerance," or "it was part of her character." Well ugh - not always, it wasn't.
I do agree that this newer design looks a little bit like Suprema, but then, Suprema was intentionally designed to be the Supergirl/ Power Girl of Supreme's world, so which one is really the copy?
As far as not being like her pre-Flashpoint incarnation, Power Girl, like Hawkman, is one of those no-win characters that has been through so many changes and retcons, that no matter what changes you make to her, someone is going to hate it. The only real thing you can do is what DC is doing now - scrap it all, restart with a blank slate, and just say, "Here she is, like her or don't."
Oh, and the hair? Also closer to her original hair style. Not necessarily saying that's a good thing, but I do think it's a nice nod to her history.
I wouldn't say sad, just disappointed. The old costume looked cool AND hot, something not many can pull off.

Must admit PG's new costume doesn't look as terrible as when I first saw, in fact I like a few elements of her new outfit. However, I take issue that she now seems to have a generic and run-of-the-mill figure like a ton of other comic book females whereas before she had an unique voluptuous and corn-fed physique. I genuinely don't even care about her massive rack, but PG looked best when curvy and full figured like a plus size model or something, a body type rarely displayed in comics or any other sort of media.

@JediWaffles: Probably because I am more interested in a nice caboose over boobs.
I must say, i admire you for that.
Guess what it's been over a month and I'm still just as depressed, I still don't want to live on this planet anymore
Perhaps if Starfire and Catwoman didn't cause so much...controversy, her costume would have stayed the same.
I'm gonna miss her old costume. Yes it was a bit revealing but at the same time aren't most super hero costumes? I mean Namor's been wearing a speedo for years and no one has a problem with that, but when Power Girl wants to dress up and feel sexy it's a big deal. I think she's a woman who's just proud of her body.
In my own humble opinion, the new costume is bland, uninteresting, and tacky. I'm fine with covering up PG a little more if they really feel the need for it, but for goodness sake give her something that doesn't look like a 90's Ultraverse reject. When fans around the internet can create more iconic and interesting costumes than the people actually in charge of the comic, something is wrong.
I think this newer design looks great.Lets look at the updated look of the outfit.
I like the old one. But the new one is fine as well.
With the latest pics I think the new costume is not that bad. They backed off on the horrible 80's feathered hair and you can tell it's actually her now. I'll give it a shot but I'm not too proud to admit that I'll miss the boob window
I think my main problems with the costume are the blue stripes down the side, the ugly P on the chest, and the fact that there's way too much white with nothing breaking it up. Seriously, give her a belt or something. And some actual boots, not those little sneaker things. If they made those changes, then it might start looking like a decent costume.

Yea they tried to go too modern and it feels unbalanced I don't see why they made her wear a solid leotard with all this empty space. I like aspects but I agreed its just too much white
I like that they are trying to give her a logo but its too big I like the P in the gold but there is no need for it to be in all that red, the red looks weird
It's superwoman! not power girl, it looks nothing like power girl. lol.
I dunno, there are pros and cons for the new PG outfit. But its the new 52, brand new future, new origin. I want her to be a rogue kryptonian or a sleeper agent of the original PG, that'd add a great depth to the character. It's only the beginning of PG's career in the New 52, so I dunno why they couldn't make the current PG a clone or a sleeper agent.
What costume? Except for the unidentifiable "P" logo, it's just a plain white jumpsuit with blue lines down either side and a red cape. It could be a uniform for an ice-skating team. The only good thing about it is that it can't possibly last long, before the editors have to admit, under pressure from readers (or non-readers) that it is a joke and give her a new costume. Or her original one. It's amazing - the original one, or some variation on it, would have been better than giving her a new one this lame but they still insisted on changing it, even though they couldn't come up with even a decent design, let alone a better one.
I never respected Power Girl as a hero. Or a person. I seriously do not see her as anything except for walking fanservice, but I hate women as a whole so that's a moot point. This new Conservative look they're going for to make her look more heroic and less attractive. Is for lack of a better word, insulting. So of course yes, I miss her breast.
That looks nothing like Power Girl, the woman had the most powerful legs and foxy hair.
I bet she still kicks arse though.
I don't know anything about Power Girl really, but I almost liked her old costume. The boob-window is silly: get rid of it. Also, cover her legs ( like they have with the new 52 version). With those two alterations, I think the old Power Girl costume is actually nicer than the newer one: I particularly like the distinctive take on the superhero cape that looks a bit more like a cloak.
