duo_forbidden's Power Girl #22 - Up, Up & Away, Part One review

    "I know. I'm fighting dinosaurs."

Synopsis: Power Girl and Superman battle against dinosaurs.

    What's Good?

     What about her
     What about her "Figure"?

This is what I missed from Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray's run compared to Judd Winick's run: randomness. Not to say that Winick's take in Power Girl has been bad, it's mostly been tied into Justice League Generation Lost with Maxwell Lord. It's just nice to see some craziness, funny moments, and some guest stars like Superman appear and still be serious. Add in another surprising guest star at the end, and I think this story arc will get even better. Not only that, but we also get an update with Karen's company that makes one previous character from the last issue (Ophelia Day) a bit upset. I can't wait to see her and Karen come to blows in the future.

Sami Basri's artwork is always wonderful to see in this series. Vibrant and detailed, I love his work with Power Girl . Facial expressions are great as always. Even the guest characters look wonderful as well.

    What's Bad?

Timing. I was hoping to read Justice League Generation Lost before this issue, because apparently, I missed the memo of Karen finally exposing Maxwell Lord. Karen's reopening of her company surprised me because there's not a huge explanation on how she got her company up and running again, but I think the Generation Lost tie in might answer that.

Overall: Things seem to be picking up for Power Girl without the Generation Lost tie in. Can't wait to read the next issue.

Yeah I miss that random feel that Palmiotti's run had. Dealing with Space Girls one day, saving a floating Manhattan the next and even fighting Terra. Their run had that feeling that anything could happen.

The books certainly feels that way now but I some future issues have me worried. Have you seen the covers for issue 24 and 25, Batman again?

I don't really mind Batman showing up in the future issues. When PG teamed up with Dick, it was pretty entertaining, but in the last issue, Bruce hardly did anything, other than help with the Maxwell Lord problem.

And I agree, Karen getting her company back out of nowhere came as a surprise. I was thinking it had something to do with the JL Generation Lost #22, but I found out that it had nothing related to it. I'm thinking that Bruce had a role in helping Karen get her company back, hence, his role in the future issues.

      Superman And Dinosaurs? 0

The cover alone featuring Superman and Power Girl fighting a dinosaur is reason enough to read this issue.  The Good Power Girl has been going through some hard times lately. Finally things appear to be getting on the right track for her. We get to see some progress in her civilian problems (with her company), a visit from her "cousin" Superman and a fight against dinosaurs. What more could you want? To make things even more interesting, there's a slight twist during the fight against the dinosa...

      Didn't See That Coming 0

While I've come to accept and support Winick's direction for the series thus far, the story itself, while entertaining at times, has been a miss for me. These days, I'm looking forward to what's in store for PG after Generation Lost. According to solicits there are big changes on the horizon. But until then, I guess another tie-in will do.GOODStarrwareWell.......it looks like things are turning around much sooner than expected for Starrware, considering the state of her company in issue #21, tha...
