Great Start...Keep 'em Coming
Power Girl is one of the characters I've seen many times before but never got to know her better, so after learning she finally has her own issue, I was excited about it. I've read it and it's pretty good. Of course, I didn't expect much due to my unfamiliarity with the powerful bombshell but overall I like it.
The thing that strikes me the most (Aside from her gorgeous assets) is the artwork. The artists and the colorist have done a fine job with the issue as it's colorful and striking. I enjoy reading every page of the comic book just looking at the pictures. As for the story, it's alright. Has a lot going on and hopefully it builds up as the series continues.
If there's one little thing that bothers me is how Power Girl keeps her secret identity. From the beginning, I always thought that Power Girl never had any alter ego and would always be referred to as Power Girl 24/7 but that doesn't seem to be the case. It appears she is referred to as Karen Starr to the public much like Superman as Clark Kent but like the Man of Steel, it's weird that nobody can find any connection between Power Girl and Karen Starr. All she does is wear an ordinary clothes and tie her hair to disguise herself. That's it. No wig. No reading glasses. No nothing. So how come nobody could see that? How hard is it to see Karen Starr as Power Girl, who looks like her, who has a short blonde hair like her and even has big boobs like her. So what on earth?
Oh, well. No matter. Let's forget about it. Anyway in conclusion, the first issue of Power Girl proves to be a promising series in months to come and I hope it will continue to be more interesting and original. If there's something I wish it won't happen is to see any of the creators leaving the production. It happened to Harley Quinn comics where Terry and Rachel Dodson left the series and after only the 19th issue. The comics was never the same again. Please don't let that happen to Power Girl, DC Comics.
