Anthropomorphic racoon antics are fun to watch!
The story focuses on a tribe of raccoons that try to defend themselves against deforestation in Japan. It's because of this that the movie is bitter sweet. But it wouldn't be a true Ghibli film without a lesson in how humans tamper with and destroy nature and the effects that has on the creatures who coexist with us. On a brighter note, the characters were fun, witty and adorable. I really don't have any negative comments about this film, but be warned: there are small fuzzy testicles drawn on the males. They aren't blatantly obnoxious or used in any sexual way, they're just...there.
