Pokemon gen 7 has been announced as Pokemon Sun and Moon. For me I am excited and upset by this news. I am a big Pokemon fan as some might know. So I am excited to see new games and what gen 7 has in store for us. But I am also upset because there is no third installment in the Pokemon gen 6. We didn't get the expected Pokemon Z. It would have made sense to make it considering there are a few unreleased legionaries from this generation. Those being Volcanion and the other forms of Zygarde. They might have plans for these Pokemon in the new games but I would rather the new games have their own stories and not be too connected with previous generations. But non the less I am excited to for when the release actual game play and a the starter Pokemon. Only time will tell

Pretty much every Pokemon game offers basically nothing new. I don't mean little touches. I mean overall.

What I'd really want is a 3D open world Pokemon game with a beautiful sunset. And a more controlled battle system where you directly control the Pokemon.

The mechanics are fine. Turn-based combat is a staple of both Pokemon and the gaming medium as a whole. There's absolutely no need to devolve a crucial, timeless combat system into an open world hack n' slash.

The real problem lies in the story, which has never been the source of Pokemon's success. But let's be honest for a second: who cares about story when you're trying to be the best there ever was? Nobody has time for that shit.

I wouldn't know. I'm still stuck on Gen 2... lol. I just know they have quite a few games named after colors, as well as repeat colors like Fire Red or Leaf Green.

I guess it was only a matter of time before they moved on to planets, moons and stars.

I never said that I wanted a hack n' slash. I was implying some sort of gameplay change to the Pokemon games in general. Open world is actually a good idea.

You could have one region, and all the assets of Pokemon are translated into 3D. There doesn't even need to be different combat (but i'd love that). Just something, different.

First off, definitely going with Sun and the dope ass fire cat.

Second, I'm actually probably not going with anything because I can't buy an entire new console just for this game. And that makes me so sad.

Hmm... Since this is based on Hawaii, does that mean that we can go to more islands than just the one we were shown? Because it really does seem too small IMO, and Hawaii is composed of multiple islands. If only we could go to other regions...

@tsoj: don't worry about the region being small as you said it will have more islands like fire red and there's a rumor going on that In this game you can travel to another region like gsc I hope it's true.

Eh, starters have grown on me a bit as the day has gone on.

When my alerts woke me up I thought Litten was a lame rehash. Now I think Litten is intentionally under designed and a welcome addition in place of what could've been an increase in the direction of overdesigned pokemon that we've been headed towards.

Can't wait for it to evolve so I can crush my friends with a Flaming Tiger.
