@jaycool2: its understandable considering that if they don't ash should pretty much oneshot all trainers barring tobias(though I'd say ash's pikachu at peak>any of tobias's pokemon), what isn't is having him be outshone by greninja in what should have been ash and pikachu's triumph, and having him stomped by snivy is inexcusable(as well as the terrible dialogue(its even worse for japenese versions), and character devlopment, and pretty much everything that plagued the show post sinnoh.)

@jaycool2: Yeah, Pikachu has faced of against legendary Pokemon before and has beat many high tier Pokemon. Then suddenly he loses to a Snivy, doesn't make sense at all. But oh well, if the plot needs it, so be it

@tchallaisopness: ash's pikachu imo has the showings to say he's> any of tobias's pokemon. Dude has really good feats and when not jobbing has outperformed a pokemon at least top three when it comes to unova legendaries willpower wise so he'sd abosultely be able to resist a darkrai attack sceptile could tank. Pikachu's feats v a way way more powerful darkrai in alamos, and vs regice imo put him above tobias's darkrai or latios.

team wise i can see that, but charizard, greninja, and infernape should be able to contend, but ash lacks any contenders beyond that., I'd see ash winning a 3 v 3 with his best pokemon and operating at his peak as a trainer(as he did vs paul)

For all we know, he had a Giratina, Mewtwo, or Arceus on his team.

@tchallaisopness: Well....it's not big enough to be a Spirit bomb, but yeah pretty much Pikachu should have no problem now defeating a Legendary let alone any Pokemon for that matter since it can dish out THAT much power..........Especially considering that it's an Electric type pokemon.

Yeah your right Ash should just evolved Pikachu, but if you remember in the first show Ash AND Pikachu were afraid that Pikachu wouldn't be the same anymore. They thought about it, but rejected the thunderstone. I mean look what happened to Charmander it's personally completely changed and became a Jerk LOL

So really Pikachu is probably a level 80 or 90 by now.

At least it seems that way because pikachu was hit by Thunderus attack and absorbed it and after that we saw Blue lightnings run over Pikachu few times and we know from the past that Pikachu can absorb electric attacks to AMP himself (sometime he absord his own attacks, how does that work?!)

@tantani: Good question I have no idea I do know if your electric attack is stronger than Pikachu's it hurts him just like how Zapdos's Lightning hurt him.

@thesuperor: Ash's Pikachu list a lot of its power because of Zekrom.

Granted it probably should've still been able to beat Trips Snivy but the gap isn't as big as people think it is.

@tchallaisopness: Raichu isn't an inherently mischievous Pokemon (unless they've stored up too much electricity) The few that Ash and Pikachu fought in evolution centric episodes were trained by Aholes so they developed similar personalities.

@stormphoenix: Bulbasaur was actually the one who was afraid of the changes evolution might bring. Pikachu's main beef was that it felt insulted by the notion that the only way it could beat certain Pokemon was to evolve. That was what made even Team Rocket sympathetic to its plight.
