Maybe this is unpopular but for me after the Captain America 2 connection, Agents of Shield is a great Tv series, Agent Carter is also good entertainment, and yes the events from the 3 first episodes are before Marvel Agent Carter One-Shot.

It's weird that you guys complain about people being negative about comics but then go and do the exact same with the Gotham (and then going on to say how great Carter is)

It's not simple negativity they complain about, it's stuff like hating something before it even comes into fruition and other unwarranted expressions of negativity. Criticizing something you've seen is very different, which is what they're doing here.

@drellassassin: We also stated we really like the show but 'have' to point out the bad. And Mat even said he almost loves the show. At least that's the conversation I remember recording.

The more passionate you are about a series, the easier it is to critique it. Also, I review Gotham weekly, so I have more to say about it. As for Agent Carter, I watch it in passing for fun, so I'm not watching with a critical eye, hence I have less nit-picky things to say about it.

As Drell said, the idea of hating something before it comes out is the problem we have with people's opinions. Sure, you can be cautious of a product because it's previews or rumors reveal something unnerving about said product, but you can't call it "awful" based on that. That's where the problem lies.

TL;DR version: There's a big difference between negativity and critiquing.

@inferiorego: Most of the stuff you guys pick up on Gotham like why didn't the nurse have a bodyguard and what age everybody is doesn't seem like critiquing

Agent Carter: I like how with Agent Carter they are bringing the audience into her frustrations as a competent spy post WW2 who is being hampered by how roles in society are changing now that the men were back from the war. Its a great example of how Disney/Marvel is using Empathy to relate a character's societal challenges without beating an obvious social message over the viewer's head.

It's also neat that we are seeing how America went from "The Golden Age" into the 50's with all of the political paranoia that it embodied.

I tried getting my wife to watch SHIELD and she wasn't interested, but she loves Agent Carter because she is not only seeing a character she can relate to with cool spy gear, but also the early origins of SHIELD. So maybe she will give it a chance after Agent Carter.

Gotham: I have been largely forgiving of all of the inconsistencies within the show thus far. I like that they are playing with age and timelines turning this Gotham into it's own place, but man that Rogue's Gallery episode had way too many holes left in it just to serve the plot. Still loving the show. Just had to keep the nerd-rage quiet a lot this past episode.

Unrelated: Is anyone else watching Galavant?

@inferiorego If you haven't since recording, I highly suggest catching up on American Horror Story when you get a chance. The last two episodes have been the best of the season. No spoilers but the finale is looking to be pretty crazy

Ohhhhhhhh, that's where I recognize Dr. Thompkins from!! FIREFLY! That was totally bugging me the whole episode... though not enough for me to make a few taps on iMDB and figure her name. Also her age is fine because they can make her any age they feel like! GAWD! First the characters are too young and then they aren't old enough, when will it end with you people!!! :p :p :p

The reason Gotham came back with a new episode for a week and then had a repeat the next week was because the College Football Championship was on and most shows were repeats that night. Only shows geared towards women aired new episodes that night.

@inferiorego: On the subject of all soda being referred to as "coke", in my experience it's just used around the house. "Grab me a coke" " You wanna coke?" If I go out to eat I get more specific. Orange Fanta please. The rules behind it are a bit strange, but surprisingly there is rarely any confusion.

That's how it was when I was a kid. You'd ask someone if they wanted a Coke, they'd say 'yeah', and then you'd say 'okay we got Coke, root beer, orange, ginger ale'. Coke is just the opener, even if you only have Pepsi.
