Skaar Makes His Grand Entrance on Planet Earth
Seems like the past couple of years, giving a major superhero a lost son has been the thing to do. Batman, Wolverine, movie Superman, and the not so jolly green giant, The Hulk have all had sons added to their character roster in recent years. After Greg Pak's mostly brilliant Planet Hulk storyline and pretty good World War Hulk arc, we were left with the knowledge that Hulk's unborn son survived the destruction of his home planet. Transported away from his planet, which was next on the menu for Galactus, he landed on Earth. Reed Richards feared the potential consequences of a father-son meeting and acted quickly in trying to prevent it with the rest of the Four as well as She Hulk. The immenent battle ensues but is interuppted by military interference in the form of heavy firepower. Ats of right now no one is sure what has become of Skaar.
This is a solid start to what I hope is a strong story. I'm curious to see where it goes next considering the cliff hanger ending. I found this to be a good read although it had some mildly distracting flaws. The parallel of coyote used in the story was a bit on the cheesy side. Maybe it just reminded me a bit too much of the repulsive Amadeus Cho character. I feel like Dan Panosian's pencilling is out of place with this story as his carries a more cartoon-style detail reminiscent of Ed McGuinness. I feel like more serious stories need a darker art style. All in all, I'd recommend this for Hulk fans as well as anyone who is interested in starting a new storyline as this works as a very strong lead in for the new arc. Check this one out
