Overload was created for the 2009 Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Movie. He is based on the original Contructicon Long Haul (who was only in some Toy versions of Devastator and did not appear as a Construcitcon in the Movie). He was created due to Long Haul being used a as a different character in the first film.

During the battle in Egypt between the Autobots and The Fallen's Decepticons, Overload arrived in a quarry with the other Constructicons before merging into Devastator to attack former Sector Seven agent Seymour Simmons, Leo Spitz, Skids and Mudflap. As Devastator smashed away at the Great Pyramid of Giza Simmons called upon the United States Navy to fire upon the giant Decepticon. The U.S.S. Kidd fired her experimental rail gun, smashing one of his arms to pieces and destroying Devastator.
