Sgt. Rock Meets Viking Prince
I've never much of a Sgt. Rock fan, partially because war comics aren't my cup of tea, and partially because I was never fond of Joe Kubert's sketchy line style - though I acknowledge its appropriateness for the genre. However, given some of the silliness that was going on in a lot of the superhero titles of the sixties, I must admit that Our Army at War was probably one of the better titles DC was putting out at the time.
Our Army at War #163 will probably satisfy any fan of the genre. For those that go for the 'wild' war stories, the main feature, 'Kill Me -- Kill Me!' by Kubert features the unlikely team of Sgt. Rock and the Viking Prince. Viking Prince, cursed by Odin to be un-killable by metal wood or water, wants desperately to die and be reunited with his love in Valhalla. Which makes him the perfect vanguard for Sgt. Rock and Easy Company's suicide mission. It's an odd combination, but it kind of works if you're willing to suspend disbelief that far.
The backup tale is a more traditional war story (I suspect that it's a Golden Age reprint) by Jack Abel. It's about a army airman that failed both as a pilot and navigator who's given one last chance to redeem himself as a bombardier.
Recommended, but to genre fans only.
