    Orchid #1

Orchid » Orchid #1 released by Dark Horse Comics on October 1, 2011.

    Short summary describing this issue.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

From the mind of musician Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, The Nightwatchman) with art by Scott Hepburn (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), Orchid is the tale of a teenage prostitute who learns that she is more than the role society has imposed upon her. When the seas rose, genetic codes were smashed. Human settlements are ringed by a dense wilderness from which ferocious new animal species prey on the helpless. The high ground belongs to the rich and powerful that overlook swampland shantytowns from their fortress-like cities. Iron-fisted rule ensures order and allows the wealthy to harvest the poor as slaves. Welcome to the world of Orchid.

A crooked Mirror of our time told my Morello. 0

Who would of guessed Tom Morello would join the ranks of celebrity comic book writers.  The one advantage he has over someone like Tyrese Gibson is that Morello's political side has actual values that can be weighed.  The sub-political undertones might be the turn off for some people.  The world is set in a familiar, yet unfamiliar earth.  People show their classical side of slavery and cast systems in this future where civilization had to take steps back.    The political side of this book is ...

    The World Of Orchid 0

The Story: The world of Orchid is ruled by the rich and powerful who enslave the poor. My Thoughts:Orchid is the new series from Dark Horse written by Tom Morello and drawn by Scott Hepburn. This new world they've created is what caught my attention and ultimately made me decide to pick it up. I thought the premise was interesting and showed potential. The issue begins by giving readers some quick background on the world and how things got to where they are currently. It's a violent world as pro...

Not my usual cup of tea 0

Immediately, the story takes off with a brief history of what seems to be the makings of a dystopian future, and then you land in the middle of a frantic chase scene. From the beginning of the issue, the book really tries to draw you in and immerse you into the world with the scenery and story. The elements introduced such as the mask, the socio-economic castes, and the main characters themselves are really intriguing and makes me want more. However, I feel like the writing could be a little stro...
