When Goscinny started to work with Uderzo one of the their first creations was Oumpah-pah (or Ompa-pa in the English translation). Although it never reached the celebrity status of the two quirky Gauls, Asterix and Obelix, this series of albums was quite amusing and certainly belongs in the gallery of Goscinny's and Uderzo's best characters.
