Omega races to save a woman from jumping off of the 59th Street Bridge…but can James-Michael save himself from the bullies at school?
Omega saves a woman who jumps off a bridge, debating with himself why someone would try to kill themself, as he does not fully understand emotions.
James-Michael is dropped off for his second day at school by Ruth and Amber, and quickly joins his new group of friends, including Dian and John. Dian, who has a bit of a crush on him, gives him One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as a way to bond. They soon run into the local bullies, but manage to avoid any major problems.
Omega brings the girl, Theresa, to Gramps, so she can recuperate. She wakes up and says that she has been cursed by El Gato. El Gato is a local strongman with reputed magical powers. Her mother owed him money, and after she died, El Gato wants to collect from her. She refused, and since then terrible things have kept happening to her.
One of the bullies, Nick, decides it would be hilarious to switch the chemicals in an experiment at school. James-Michael tries to warn the teacher, but he won't listen, so John grabs it and throws it out the window, where it explodes. The teacher thinks James-Michael and John were involved, and brings them to the principal's office, but he lets them go.
On the way back, John stops off in the bathroom, where the bullies are waiting for him. They think he snitched, and beat him horribly.
Omega leaves to let Gramps talk with Theresa, but when he comes back, she is leaving with El Gato. Omega and El Gato fight, and Omega is mysteriously unable to hurt El Gato. El Gato sets a bunch of cats on Omega, but Gramps knocks them off with water from a hydrant.
El Gato then says Omega can have Theresa if she wants to go. When Omega looks in the car to see her, she seems to be in a trance, and says she wants to go with El Gato.
