Marvel continues their slow drip of new info about their upcoming Marvel NOW! Point One issue. Yesterday, we shared with you an updated teaser image of Nick Fury, Jr. tossing a stack of case files (?) towards the reader, one of which now shows who many of you believe to be Cable (I agree). Today, the latest update to that image has been released, featuring Fury unleashing a Nova folder.

    No Caption Provided

Now the question remains: which Nova is this exactly? Is this Richard Rider returning from the alternate universe he was trapped in with Thanos and Starlord? Or, is this the latest character to don the Nova armor, Sam Alexander, who recently fell from the stars to warn the Avengers of the Phoenix's imminent arrival in Avengers vs. X-Men: Infinite #1?

The safe bet would be to say this is probably the Sam Alexander version of the character. Especially in light of Sam appearing in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon as Nova. Because, you know, Marvel loves their cross-pollination synergy.

However, with the Marvel NOW! initiative comes a rebirth, of sort. With a bunch of new series launching and a new overall direction planned for the Marvel U., it wouldn’t be out of left field to see Richard Rider return and resume the mantle of Nova. Would it?

So let the speculation begin! Which version of Nova do you think Nick Fury, Jr. has his eye on? Sound off in the comments below.

Nova's death was the perfect sacrifice.

Don't bring him back, and that goes for Starlord and Thanos too.

God damn it...it better be Richard Rider. I miss that guy, I really really really hope it isn't whoever that Nova was in the Infinite Comics stuff. Or worse yet, that Nova from that awful Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. -.-

    Still, I am intrigued.

The other pix you guys posted in the deck. Can it be Cable or Nick Fury Sr. I say Cable. But with a closer look from this one you guys did before.

    http://www.comicvine.com/news/update-on-marvel-now-and-the-new-1-issues-in-october/144904/

I see Cable back there with a Patch. And if Nick Fury Jr. If he is picking heroes for his deck. I beat one is Captain America, Maybe a God with Thunder. Jean Grey... and how about it!? Bring me Howard the Duck!!! LOL Well those are my guess...

Hopefully Richard Rider, although the point about cross-pollination synergy is accurate, it wouldn't surprise me if they did that so the show and comics would be in balance...

Sorry Richard Rider fans but it's most likely Sam Alexander, the lame version from the lame Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon which is named after Loeb's son. I know it's tragic that Loeb's son died of cancer but replacing a fan favourite with this new character is not a good move IMO. Storylines like Annihilation and the Thanos Imperative amongst others proved Richard Rider was a great character and did not deserve to be meddled with by the curse of Loeb.

Perfect death? The cosmic Marvel died with their deaths. Richard Rider was the center of it and the cosmic Marvel will be dead as long as Rider isn't around. Its like killing off the Superman of cosmic Marvel.

To take down one of the most dangerous Villains. A worthy sacrifice and I felt that it not only made sense, but was also well timed. He WAS the Superman of Cosmic Marvel, but he was still human which is why his death was so powerful. Even the most powerful of us can die at any moment.

Alternatively he could have tripped down some stairs or drowned in his Cheerios, would you have preferred that?

Yeah I'd assumed that was someone imitating Thanos as Marvel wouldn't be asinine enough to waste one of their best characters. Bring him back.

I don't mind the new Nova, but I would like them to have Richard Rider return as the head of the Nova Corps and a possible mentor to Sam. They don't even have to show him often, just giving us fans of the character that closure would be nice.

But I expect them to not explain at all how the Nova Force returned and never feature any of the DnA characters who lost their power.

Also, I'm not sure Loeb writing an expy of his son is such a good idea. It's not going to end well for anyone.

@Lvenger: loeb has milked his son's death far to much. have you read the awful new ultimates issue 1 where tony starks talks about being friends a boy called sam who has cancer? in fact the only reason he's still at marvel is probably because when try to sack him, loeb bring his sons death up and feel sorry for.

I wonder why the file with Cable (or whoever it is) on it is blank in this image? You'd think that they would have each preview with more and more images revealed, until the final one with all of the characters viewable.

Maybe the two preivews released today and yesterday are actually different pictures, showing Fury Jr. with two entirely different teams, and we just haven't realised it yet...

I'd expect Sam Alexander, but in the Avengers Assemble comic, which is in continuity apparently, Star-Lord is Peter Quill and also Thanos has returned so that means Richard Rider is out there somewhere. Right?

    Yikes,,,some rough looking artwork

And yes, thanks to Ultimate Spider-Man, I cannot stand the idea of Sam being NOVA!! Just when Rich was getting his due. they pull this stunt.

Again..i will read the stories to see where it goes, but not liking the ideas so far

Personally, Nova was my favorite character from the Marvel Universe. I just got a little more excited for this whole reboot thing. ;p
