If Dick goes back to Nightwing is that bad?

First things first, I was a huge proponent of Dick wearing the cowl, I felt that in many ways The Dick we all loved and knew had grown up and come full circle. However There is one statement within this issue that Kyle Higgins writes that really stands out and emphasizes the need for a Nightwing: "Guess that's part of what makes us different". In essence Dick is and forever will be Nightwing; not to say that he didn't pick up a thing or two as his time as Batman. I think what really shines within this well crafted issue by Higgins, Barrows, and Mayer is the fact that Nightwing has a newfound, if not refound confidence in his abilities as a protector of Gotham. Higgins sums it up best when he has Dick comment: My time as Batman only made me a better Nightwing, as is apparent in each panel by the beautiful artwork by Barrows and Mayer. Dick looks like that sleek new race car, tearing up the track like it's nobody's business. While This is still a first issue, a beautiful one at that; Props needs to go to Higgins for defiantly making Nightwing a man of his own. Dicks time as Batman is referenced, however the primary focus of this issue is Dick, meaning the issues he addresses have a direct correlation to him. So how does one start a new Nightwing series? With a little bit of history of course! Dick's former home The Haley Circus is back in town, however it is no stroll down memory lane when a new villain with Wolverine Claws(i kid you not) comes a callin, and the kicker is that he claims Dick Grayson is an evil evil person(no seriously)!! With his time as Batman facing A-listers Dick should have no problem right?...Right? All in all Nightwing #1 greatly surpassed all my expectations. Props to Kyle Higgins in keeping our boy Dick fresh and busy, likewise props to Eddy Barrows and J.P. Mayer for the wonderful artwork, because Gotham and it's inhabitants have never looked sexier(not in attraction as a guy to girl or Guy on guy). For Great Reads and Great Art, I highly recommend Nightwing!

The Circus Is In Town 0

The Story: Dick Grayson returns as Nightwing. He visits Haly's Circus which was in town. Later he is attacked by a new villain named Saiko. My Thoughts:Initially I hadn't planned on picking up Nightwing when DC announced it as one if their new 52 series. I didn't much like the color change of his costume, preferring the blue over the red. When I rethought everything through, I told myself I was crazy to pass on this series. After all, Dick Grayson is one of my favorite characters. I liked him as...

Did I mention how good it is to be "me" again? 0

Mixed feelings I had when I found out Dick Grayson was going back to Nightwing.  I was happy he got the promotion and I felt the Batman Mythos was stronger if it was defined by just one man.  I still believe the Mythos of the Bat as an urban legend would be stronger with at least two Batmen running around, but it is hard to hate how we are reminded by Kyle Higgins' writing how comfortable Dick Grayson is in his own persona as Nightwing.  My favorite issues of the 52 were character pieces, the on...
