Since his return, has his teleportation range been increased?

In Amazing x-men he managed to cross dimensional barriers (with the bamfs).

In Extraordinary x-men, he seemingly teleported Iceman from Prague to Egypt (like 3,000 miles).

Is it possible writers have extended his 'porting range, or are these just plot exploits

(like when he jumped 50 miles to help Rachel out with the Shi'ar)?

Has any explanation been given?
