The woman named Lea C. Farr was originally a petty criminal who lived in the worst streets of New York. This was until she was discovered by the creature calling himself Mr. Jip. Mr.Jip at some unknown time took her in as his ward and gave her superhuman powers over the darkness itself. Mr. Jip had long wanted to make the hero Cloak to be the vessel for his essence. Night and her partner Day than were tasked with the duty to separate him from his partner Dagger, hoping this would make it easier to obtain his obedience. Night was at first able to prevent Dagger from helping Cloak however she returned in time to stop Mr. Jip.
Unable to control Cloak's form, Mr. Jip was able to plant a post-hypnotic suggestion in him that made Cloak take Dagger to an ambush by Night. Using her ability to manipulate darkness Night was than able to control the darkness of Dagger and turn her evil. Cloak managed to turn her back to good, but not before an encounter with X-Factor left her blind.
Night assisted Mr. Jip in another scheme to gain control of Cloak that ended in failure. Night has not been seen or heard from since that time. Her current whereabouts and if she retained her powers or has continued in service of Mr.Jip is not known.
Night made her first appearance in Strange Tales Vol 2 #9 December, 1987. She was created by Terry Austin, and Bret Blevins.
