New Avengers #29 Review
New Avengers #29 Review
Overview:
A meeting of the Illuminati called by Captain America doesn’t quite go as planned.
The Good:
Seeing how each of some of the most powerful men in the Marvel Universe react to the events happening is really cool, particularly Professor X and Mr. Fantastic. Bendis does a great job writing as the reader can feel the stress that Professor X is under and all of the pain he is feeling; while the detached calculations of Mister Fantastic are impressive and a little shocking.
Brian Michael Bendis brings his A-game with the writing in this issue. While the series is consistently good, this issue is a step up. The motivations and thoughts behind the men assembled are clear and this rings back to the Civil War and how divided the people were. This was some of the best Bendis has had in a while.
The art by Mike Deodato is continues to be amazing and some of the best coming from Marvel.
The Bad:
Nothing major that I could find, sometimes the pure black shading was annoying but honestly it does not impact the story at all.
Verdict:
A fantastic issue that really fires on all cylinders; bot the writing and art are both able to tell a great story that makes me wish all of AvX was like this. So far all of the New Avenger tie-ins have been great and this is no different.
