These Avengers Are Newer Than New 0

Plot & Action: It's our first issue of an Avengers book. What do you think we get? A team-building iss-- not so fast. Unlike other books, we don't get that whole lame flashback premise. We follow Luke Cage as he puts together his team. At the same time, a threat enters the scene. Both of these storylines collide, and our issue is born. The story doesn't wow you, but it avoids fatiguing you with the same storyline. That earns it some points.Character Wise: I'm not a big Bendis fan, but I admi...

    New Avengers vol 2 Issue 1 0

Good ol' Bendis and Immonen. Either one of these names alone will get me into a new series (Such as any Avengers book or Nextwave) but when you put them together.. YOWZA! I mean, their run on Ultimate Spidey alone was tremendous, but then they reunited on New Avengers and now begin volume 2 together. And it's a beautiful start.  The issue starts with former Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange confronting Hellstorm and the two become engulfed in a mystical battle that will encompass the main threat ...

    Feels off, to me... 2

I've loved the New Avengers series. I love Luke Cage, especially, as a character. And this lineup of New Avengers is solid, with one problem: Half the team's always gonna be busy somewhere else. Luke has The Thunderbolts, Thing has the Fantastic Four, Spidey, Wolverine, and Hawkeye have The actual Avengers, Wolverine has the X-Men, and Hawkeye and Mockingbird have their own solo, as well. That pretty much leaves the only consistent members as Jessica Jones, Ms. Marvel, and Iron Fist. It just see...

    New-ish, I Guess 0

The new New Avengers kicks off its Heroic Age relaunch in a stronger way than Bendis' other relaunch, Avengers. It's little wonder than Bendis comes off as being more comfortable writing a cast of characters including Luke Cage and Jessica Jones than Thor and Bucky Barnes. Also, Immonen's art really works well with the writing, which should be no surprise to anyone who has already been reading New Avengers for awhile.  Like in Avengers, Bendis really wastes no time getting knee deep into the plo...

    New Team, NEW AVENGERS 2

Cover Love the cover everyone really looks good in the cover. Story Dr. Strange finds Hellstorm and says they have to go to Doctor Voodoo. All the Avengers are gathered around at Avengers Tower people like Luke Cage, Spider Woman, Tony Stark, and even some of the Young Avengers. Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers ask Luke Cage to be a New Avenger and he does not know because he does not want to feel controlled. Then Tony Stark comes up with a great plan and asks Luke for a dollar. Luke d...

The newest, of a new team, thats already been new four times 3

The Story: Luke Cage is leader of a new team of superheroes and later they realize that they are requisted by Steve Rogers to recruit and unlikey individual into the team (which is supposed to be the promised Dark Avenger ). But the team encounters a huge problem when the Eye of Agomatto appears into their hands and are approached by what seems to be Dr Strange and Damion Hellstrom, but possesed by an unknown force, demanding for the Eye of Agomatto.  The Good:  Despite my rating, there are some...

    Truly Heroic 0

This is truly the best issue of the Heroic Age so far to me and I think it´s going to be an ongoing hit. I´ve really liked the fact that Steve Rogers and Tony Stark made Luke Cage an offer to lead the New Avengers, in a way, it´s a compensation for all the underground work after the Registration Law and Civil War. An interesting thing is that I´m reading Avengers Volume 3 (Kurt Busiek and George Perez) and I´ve thought to myself: "Man, do I miss the Avengers Mansion" and bamm, Tony Stark sells t...

Luke Cage and the New Avengers 0

100 Words Or LessSuperheroes are going to have a better day in the Heroic Age so they need to make sure they have as many teams as possible. The New Avengers is the third Avengers-related team (after The Avengers and Secret Avengers) to band together and do battle against the evils of the Marvel Universe. Led by Luke Cage and his hand-picked teammates, they've moved into Avengers Tower and immediately see themselves up against a supernatural demonic force. Welcome to Day One.  So Then I Said...I...
