The opportunist Nelio
The opportunist Nelio
The Trebaldis is one of the oldest and more powerful families in Rome. When Cosimo Trebaldi installed a regime of fear, most of the nine families were aware of the danger that Trebaldi meant for each of them. But also the patriarch of the Trebaldis, had fear for the future of his family and the life of his younger son due to his libertine life and his sexual leanings. That's why he murdered Porporito, Nelio's lover to teach his son that he would have to chose between his sexual life or his own survival. Due to this situation, Maximus Latal tried to convince the younger heir of the Trebaldi family to get his older brother out of the picture. The possibility to make peace between both families seduced the patriarch of the Latal family, but Nelio had other thing in his mind. The lovely Ansea Latal as his future wife.

Almost by chance, Nelio rescued the Scorpion from an ambush of the Warrior Monks, and he told the Scorpion about the discomfort of the monks about not getting any reward for their service. This could be used as an advantage against the new Pope. Nelio also told the Scorpion about a ship that the French King was sending to the Pope, and if they could stole it, it would surely be a great defeat for Trebaldi. Nelio was counting on using the Scorpion as a weapon against his brother, but the Scorpion had his doubts about this "new friend". When he found out that Nelio was Cosimo's brother, he altered their plan and stole the gold for himself, leaving Nelio at the hands of the Warrior Monks, being arrested by them.
