    John Byrne is famous (or infamous depending on your personal views) for having lengthy runs with just about every big name in the world of comics and tweaking their story in a significant way. With Namor the concept was to make him a business tycoon so that he could practically deal with his qualms with the human race instead of resorting to rampages.
