Origin
The thirteenth son of Fate, Mr. Hemlock was tasked with the care and preservation of the garden Order, an ancient garden of unknown origin.
Creation
Mr. Hemlock was created by Bill Willingham and David Petersen. He made his first appearance in House of Mystery #7.
Major Story Arcs
The War
Living in the garden Order, Mr. Hemlock sees to its routine care and maintenance. He carefully tracks and charts the progression of the endless war between the birds and the cats, recording the deaths and events of the war as they occur, and seeing to it that neither side is able to gain an upper hand . When Prince Rapture attempts to recruit the bees to his cause, Mr. Hemlock is responsible for soliciting them to reject the offer and to kill Rapture, in order to maintain the delicate balance of the garden, and to prevent the events in Order from spilling over into the universes beyond it.
Powers and Abilities
Mr. Hemlock is a being of uncertain power. He appears to be immortal, or incredibly long-lived, as he has guarded the garden for centuries.
