    Major Story Arcs

    Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Mr Eff is initially one of the personifications of the voices that guide Johnny. He later comes under the sway of the Wall Monster, and ceases to be a part of Johnny, gaining freedom of thought and the ability to move of his own free will. Mr Eff manifests Johnny's homicidal mania. In opposition to his brother, he struggles to keep Johnny from killing himself, and encourages him to kill people in order to keep the wall painted. It is later revealed that he wants to keep the wall painted in order to keep his master, the Wall Monster, at bay, and force it to give him and his brother more power, due to having developed a desire to maintain a separate identity and become an individual entity in his own right. He works in concert with Nailbunny to thwart his brother and keep Johnny from killing himself, but hates the rabbit as it encourages Johnny to seek help and warns Johnny about the doughboys' alien nature. Because of this, he decapitates the rabbit.
