real good, not worth the hype though
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE WHOLE MOUSE GUARD WINTER 1152 SERIES
okay, mouse guard. from what i've heard in reviews, this book is supposed to be AWESOME. i just read the hardcover. so was it awesome? it was good. i dont know if it was worth the hype.
first off, let me say that this book is extremely impressive considering one guy put together the whole thing. the art is definitely really good, and the story is worthwhile. well done david petersen, most people cant do anything like this.
the story starts off a bit slow and reads more like a novel than a comic book. it seemed more like a lord of the rings without the magic type thing than a typical comic book like marvel or something. and thats ok. it did start pretty slow though, but i kept reading anyways. by about the 3rd issue, it started getting really good. by that time i had a better grip on who the characters were and what was going on. it was still slow, but it was more exciting. the end finished nicely and i have to say i was glad i read this book overall.
the art was awesome. i really like the colors and for its story, the art matches up perfectly. its very well done and not boring or repetative at all.
so overall it was good. from a personal perspective, this isnt the type of book id enjoy reading that much. but i liked it more than i thought i would. from a perspective outside of my personal opinions on whats fun to read and whats not, it was really good. is it worth picking up? if you want to read something a little more fairy tale/middle ages type (i dont even know if thats right) and not so superhero or typical, pick this up.
