All Will Be Free
What's Good?
After last month's bizarre issue, Zoe takes the center spotlight from Casey. It's a nice way to start after the first few issues. I won't lie, Zoe is a bitch. Readers have every reason to hate her because she probably remind us of someone we might know. Not me. Besides Casey, Zoe comes second in my favorite characters list. There's a reason why she acts the way she does, but it's a bit of a shock on how much back story Nick Spencer gives us with her. Besides being a kid with special powers when she was little, who would have thought that she was a cheerleader? And when you add the way Morning Glory Academy does things, not only does her flashback surprised me (and the way she shrugs it off), but it's near the end that gets me. In the end, she's not just a bitch, but a bitch with a striking background continuing the mystery theme of this series.
Joe Eisma's artwork continues to look great. The facial expressions are on key with Zoe. I also have to give credit towards Rodin Esquejo for his incredible cover art.
What's Bad?
Other than the usual unanswered questions, nothing was really wrong with this issue.
Overall: If Zoe's background is so entertaining, I wonder what makes the other characters so special for Morning Glories Academy to enroll them. Great issue.
