MLJ Magazines is a company that began publishing comics in 1939. The company is named after its founders, Maurice Coyne, Louis Silberkleit, and John Goldwater. MLJ published comic books and various superhero characters and other features. Its first comic book, Blue Ribbon Comics #1, came out in November of 1939. One feature to arise was the lovable teenager, Archie Andrews, and his cast of friends. Archie began in 1941, eventually causing the company to change its name from MLJ to Archie Comics publications, circa 1946.
