"The Closing Jaws of Death." In yet another action-packed, whiz-bang adventure, this issue finds Mister Miracle trying to escape from a trap set by Dr. Bedlam. Features the first appearance of Big Barda.

Mister Miracle's latest adversary, Prof. Bedlam, has just turned thousands of innocent, every day Earth men into screaming, paranoid maniacs. How can Mister Miracle survive against opponents he cannot even hit? Maybe....well, no, they just locked him in a safe and threw him off a ledge hundreds of feet high. And even if his new-found ally Big Barda shows up, she still can't help...Or can she? Well, she doesn`t need to! Because he managed to escape anyhow!

Barda and Miracle attempt to stay alive in the building, run in to many colorful characters and finally come face to face with Doctor Bedlam! Who himself, escapes.

The story ends with Barda becoming an occupant in the house of Scott Free and Oberon.
