Steve Carson was the protagonist of the "Federal Men" series, debuting in 1936. He was an FBI agent who would investigate various cases, solo or with others. He was an expert marksman and master of disguise.
Steve Conrad was a scientist and inventor. He was supposed to explore Dolorosa Isle, just off the coast of Chile. He and his companions ended up in the subterranean world of Mikishawm and spend years exploring it. Steve was competent in unarmed combat.
Cotton Carver was the protagonist of a series, debuting in 1939. He was an explorer who visited mysterious lands such as Thule and the subterranean Mikishawm. He eventually ended up in space as the Defender of Barlunda, an entire planet.
Mark Lansing was another explorer of Mikishawm, the same underground realm visited by Steve Conrad in earlier tales. Mark had his own series, debuting in 1940.
Little Kit was the love interest of Mark Lansing.
Paul Kirk, Manhunter, was a criminal investigator who assisted the police. He had his own series in Adventure Comics until he was replaced by a different character also called Paul Kirk, Manhunter. There was no connection between the two characters.
