I got to talk to my favorite creator.  We talked about Madman, Zombies at Vertigo, music, the return of X-Statix and the Madman movie.

That was FANTASTIC!!   It was obvious you were thrilled to see him and talk to him, as I would have been, Mike Allred's stuff is just beyond compare.

For anyone reading this, even if you don't know about Madman or never read his stuff--or even if you don't like the character, his artwork is ONE-OF-A KIND.

I failed to remember that Robert Rodriquez had been attached to a possible Madman movie, and I hope and pray to God it comes to fruition.  I am stoked to hear there may be progress with it.  The I,ZOMBIE book sounds great and the fact it will be with Vertigo means it's going to be quite unique, can't wait to see it.  I love his take on monsters, it's different from the regular horror style.  No surprise that the British Invasion and early 70's music influenced him, given the fact one of his Madman characters is named Mott the Hoople.

Wish I could have seen more of the swag he was offering.  Maybe you will show the print(s) you purchased sometime?  I am so envious, but in a positive way!  I didn't think you'd have the interview posted yet but this was a pleasant surprise.   Thanks G-Man and Red L.AM.P., I am glad you guys found him and interviewed him.  He was great during the interview despite all the distractions and background noies, professional and courteous on his part.  Loved it!

Thats awesome. I could feel that awkwardness of approaching your heroes. I was the same way when I met Fraction and Bendis. I think Bendis picked up on it though and kept the convo going.

Great interview G! I've never actually read a single issue of Madman, but I've been very much so looking into it . This inspired me to read some and check it. I have read the entire run of X-statics though and was crazy about it. I was broken-hearted when it was cancelled. It was utterly original, so I understood why it didn’t have extreme appeal, but that’s what I liked about it really. Plus his art style is so retro gorgeous. I adore it, one of the best in the business IMO. Thanks guys, great job. =]

Glad you guys enjoyed this interview (almost as much as I did).  Mike is a great guy and his art is simply amazing (along with his wife's gorgeous colors).  Pick up anything he does.  My comic shop knows to pull anything that Allred touches and puts it in my stack.  After the video I was just telling him about all the stuff I have (seen in THIS video).  His son caught on and waved a comic-con exclusive shirt I had to buy even though I just bought the print.

Great stuff, G-Man!  One of my prized comics, Is a personalized copy of Madman Adventures, from the first time I met Mike and Laura at a show in Eugene, OR. a few years ago. Nice to hear Madman will be back.

I have a lot of respect for Allred's work. I have some Madman comics and I did own all of the X-Static run. He really is a major and totally underrated talent in the comics industry. I am looking forward to his I Zombie comic. I am for sure there.

I think it was coming from Tyrese's section just around the corner.

Also, not sure if anyone caught it in the Jorge Garcia video that when he met Mike, Mike gave him the huge Madman Gargantua hardcover.  That's how awesome Mike is.
