Midnight's Fire and his sister, Silhouette, are Andrew Chord's only children. He met Dwayne Taylor while he and Silhouette were patrolling the streets. They joined forces and began hunting down street gangs.
Some time later, Silhouette was shot in one of their attacks, and her legs were paralyzed. He blamed Dwayne, and began killing police and drug lords hoping it would draw out Dwayne. Silhouette later joined Night Thrasher, therefore distancing herself from her brother.
He got his powers from the Universal Wellspring.
