"I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the *devil's* eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... *evil*."

    -Dr. Sam Loomis.

    Origin

Michael Audrey Myers was born on October 19, 1957. He had an older sister named Judith and a younger sister. The family resided in a two-story house at 45 Lampkin Lane in the suburban town of Haddonfield, Illinois. By 1963, when Michael was six-years-old, he claimed to have suffered from bizarre, inexplicable nightmares and heard a "voice" in his head that would tell him to do things.

The voices "tell me to say I hate people", says Michael. His dreams were filled with images of actual events that took place several centuries ago at the dawn of the Celtic age. He dreamed of a disfigured fifteen-year-old boy named Enda who, after being rejected by his true love Deirdre, brutally murdered her during the feast of Samhain, on what would later be called Halloween night. These visions would have a greater impact on Michael later on in his life.

    First Timeline

    First Victim

On October 31, 1963, Michael committed his first act of murder. His parents were away, and he was at home with his sister Judith who was supposed to be babysitting him, but cared more about spending an intimate moment with her boyfriend, Danny. After Danny left, Michael, dressed in a clown costume, went into the kitchen, picked up a butcher knife, walked up the steps and stabbed Judith to death. He then quietly walked back downstairs and into the front yard where he waited for his parents and the police to collect him.

Michael was taken to Smith's Grove Sanitarium where he became the patient of a psychiatrist named Doctor Sam Loomis. He spent fifteen years with Doctor Loomis, barely moving, never speaking a word.

    First kill

On October 30th, 1978, Michael Myers destroyed his room at Smith's Grove and carved the word "sister" on his door before breaking out. He also released the other patients from their rooms. At the same time, Dr. Loomis and Nurse Marion Chambers were arriving at the facility to transfer Myers for his court hearing.

Noticing the patients roaming around outside the hospital, Loomis got out of the car to investigate as Michael attacked Marion and sped away in their station wagon. As he drove across Illinois, Michael stopped to murder a truck driver to steal his boiler suit. Traveling to Haddonfield, Michael returned to his childhood home.

    Halloween, 1978

The next day on Halloween, a teenaged Laurie Strode dropped off a key at the Myers house for her realtor father, and was immediately recognized by her brother. Michael proceeded to stalk her and her friends Annie and Lynda throughout the afternoon. He also stole Judith's gravestone from the local cemetery, and broke into Nichol's Hardware Store to acquire knives, rope and a Halloween mask. Meanwhile, Dr. Loomis had followed Michael to Haddonfield and warned town sheriff Leigh Brackett of the danger he posed.

That night, as Laurie and Annie were babysitting across the street from each other, Michael watched them from the shadows. He murdered Annie first, strangling her in her car as she left to meet her boyfriend, before slitting her throat. Later, Lynda and her own boyfriend Bob showed up, only to fall victim to Michael as well. Worried about her missing friends, Laurie crossed the street to investigate, only to find Annie's body arranged under Judith Myers' gravestone, and Lynda and Bob hidden in the closets.

Michael lunged at his sister, catching her on the arm with his knife, and she ran for help. Michael followed her across the street, and Laurie was forced to stab him with both a knitting needle and his own knife. As Michael rose to resume his attack on Laurie, Dr. Loomis appeared and shot him six times in the chest, causing him to fall off the balcony. When Loomis went to check the body, Michael had vanished.

    Later That Night

After miraculously surviving being shot and falling out the window, Michael wanders the neighborhood, staying in the shadows. He snags a kitchen knife from an elderly couple and kills a random teenager. He then breaks into a school, where he draws a picture of Judith and stabs it with the knife. He also writes “Samhain” on the wall in his own blood. Upon hearing a news bulletin that Laurie was being taken to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, he continues his hunt for her. He heads directly there while the police focus on the neighborhood surrounding the crime scene.

Michael sneaks in through the back of the hospital, where he also pulled the phone lines so no calls for help could go out. He also slashed the tires on the cars in the employee lot to stop anyone from escaping. Once inside, he first finds an ambulance driver and a nurse using a therapy room for a hook-up and kills them both. Breaking into an office, he collects needles to inject any of the hospital staff he comes across on his way to Laurie’s room. Once there, he uses a scalpel to stab at the sheets, however, Laurie had already escaped, piling pillows to look like a body under the covers.

Eventually, Michael catches Laurie trying to leave. He follows her into the parking lot, but he is met by a US marshal and Loomis, having made the connection that Laurie was not a convenient random target but Michael’s long lost younger sister. While Michael kills the marshal, Loomis and Laurie take shelter back in the hospital in an operating room. Michael is shot twice by Laurie, injuring his eyes, while Loomis opens the valves on canisters of ether being stored in the room. Laurie races out of the room while Loomis uses his lighter, blowing the whole room, leaving Michael comatose and badly burned.

    The Return of Michael Myers

10 years later, Michael’s comatose and bandaged body is being moved from one sanitarium to another. Unfortunately, the two attendants seeing to his move were discussing the facts of his file too loudly and mentioned the existence of his last remaining relative, Jamie Lloyd, the 8 year old daughter of Laurie, who had died in a car accident almost a year earlier with her husband/Jamie’s father. This information caused Michael to wake up, kill his attendants, and start searching for Jamie. On his way to Haddonfield, he stopped at some roadside businesses. He stole the coveralls off a mechanic and killed a waitress in the attached diner. By this time, Loomis, badly burned from the hospital fire, had caught up with him and watched as he sped away in a tow truck.

Michael stalked the town, killing a number of townsfolk in the sheriff’s station and throwing a power company working into a transformer causing a town wide black out. This scared Jamie and her adoptive teenage sister, Rachel, who sought refuge in the sheriff’s station. Michael watched as they came across his handiwork and were then saved by the new sheriff and Loomis, who finally made it to town. While Loomis inspired a lynch mob to go look for Michael, he hid in a deputy’s car that was going to the sheriff’s house, where the girls were being brought to keep safe.

Michael waited for Loomis and the sheriff to leave and continue their search for him before he moved into the house, killing the deputy left behind to guard, the sheriff’s daughter, and her boyfriend (who was actually cheating on Rachel with the sheriff’s daughter). Rachel and Jamie ran from the house and were picked up by the lynch mob. Michael was able to jump on one of the trucks and take out all the would-be vigilantes. He was ultimately thrown from the vehicle when Rachel took a hold of the wheel and crashed the truck. Michael was gunned down by responding state troopers and then fell down a mine shaft. He was presumed dead, however, he found an opening to a river. He floated downstream before being found and cared for by a local hermit.

    The Revenge of Michael Myers

One year later, Michael was still being cared for by the local hermit. He now had a psychic connection to Jamie, due to the trauma he inflicted on her last Halloween. Worried about experiencing the holiday again, Jamie started suffering seizures which awoke Michael from his catatonia. He re-donned his mask and killed the hermit on his way to terrorize Haddonfield yet again. Fortunately, Jamie was safe in a children’s hospital, where she has been since last Halloween, mute and unable to leave, so he made an immediate attack on Rachel instead and then stalked her best friend, Tina. Stabbing Rachel triggered another seizure in Jamie, which convinced Loomis that Michael was officially back.

He witnesses Tina making Halloween plans with her boyfriend, Mikey. He would follow and kill Mikey, later using his car to pick up Tina, who thought Mikey was just playing a Halloween prank on her. Jamie was able to use her psychic connection to protect her when she alerted Loomis who alerted the police to their location. This forced Michael to abandon attacking Tina and repositioned himself at the costume party she had been planning to go to. He killed a number of the party-goers including Tina. He stayed and watched from the dark woods as Loomis showed up too late yet again. He listens as Loomis challenges him and instructs him to return to his childhood home.

Michael could see Jamie in the front window of the Myers house, but he knew that Loomis and the police force were inside, armed and waiting for him. He waited until a distress call from the children’s clinic called away most of the police. With less deputies to deal with, Michael made his move. Killing all the guards and incapacitating Loomis, Michael chased Jamie all around the house until Jamie tried to bond with him. She asked him to remove his mask, which he did tearfully. Jamie tried to wipe away the tears, but the kindness drove him into a frenzy. Jamie got away from him again and led him into a trap in the living room. Trapped in a heavy net, Loomis shot four tranquilizer darts into Michael, and the police took him into custody.

Michael was chained in a holding cell, waiting transport to a maximum security facility, when a mysterious armed gunman shot his way through the precinct and kidnapped both Michael and Jamie.

    The Curse of Michael Myers

For the last 6 years, Jamie and Michael had been kept by the Thorn Cult and were presumed dead in the attack on the police precinct. Michael had been their failed enforcer, making blood sacrifices to a Celtic demon, while Jamie was turned into a sacrificial breeder. Once she gave birth to a child, her midwife helped her escape rather than let the child become the next Michael Myers. It was Michael’s duty to get them both back. Jamie hides the baby in a bus station and is eventually caught and killed by Michael. Before that though, she is able to call a radio station to get a public message to Dr. Loomis.

Now, out in the public, Michael returns to his childhood home, which distant members of Laurie’s adoptive family were residing in. He killed everyone inside except Kara or her son, Danny. The two had been saved by neighbor Tommy Doyle, who Laurie used to babysit. He also heard Jamie’s plea for help from Loomis and found the baby when investigating her call. The four of them and Loomis are eventually kidnapped by the cult, led by an old colleague of Loomis.

Back at Smith Grove Sanitarium, they reveal Michael and the baby’s true nature and offer them a chance to join them, which they all refuse. Meanwhile, Michael is roaming the halls, knowing he was being exploited by the cult. He bumps into Tommy and Kara who are looking for the children so they can escape but is ultimately distracted by a surgical room full of cultists that he slaughters.

Michael catches up with Tommy and Kara after they find the children. Tommy injects him with needles full of acid and tranquilizers and then beats him with a pipe, until the chemicals start bleeding from the mask and he falls down, presumably dead.

    Second Timeline

In 1998. a "requel" ( a sequel that reboots continuity by ignoring unfavorable sequels) was produced with Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the role of Laurie Strode. The only Halloween films that remained in continuity with this version is Halloween and Halloween II.

    Halloween, 1998

After the fire at the hospital, Michael’s body was never recovered. He laid low for 20 years until he was strong enough to go looking for his sister yet again. Unfortunately, Laurie Strode was officially dead, but Michael was suspicious. He tracked down a former nurse from his sanitarium and found a file on Laurie Strode among her personal items. The nurse had helped her fake her death and create a new identity as Keri Tate.

He tracked “Keri Tate” to a prep school in California where she was headmistress and her son, John, was a student. As it was Halloween, the school was going on their annual Halloween camping trip to Yosemite, leaving nearly no one left on campus except a security guard, Laurie, a security guard, her son, and a few of his friends hoping to take advantage of the empty campus.

Michael started with John’s friends before attacking him and his girlfriend, Molly. Laurie and her boyfriend, Will, were able to rescue them and get a clear exit. However, Laurie went back into the school to confront her brother once and for all. Michael stalked her and her boyfriend Will as they confused the security guard for Michael and nearly killed him. Michael made his move in the confusion and killed Will, but Laurie got the opportunity to stab him multiple times and pushed him off a balcony.

As emergency services showed up, Michael, who still had not died from his injuries, broke the larynx of a paramedic and switched places with him. Michael snuck away, as the body of the paramedic was loaded into a medical examiner van, which was stolen by Laurie. She didn’t believe Michael was truly dead and cut the head off the man she thought was her brother.

Three years later, Michael tracked Laurie down yet again. She was in a sanitarium in a catatonic state after killing an innocent man. He snuck into her room and attempted to kill her, only for Laurie to reveal she was actually faking it, waiting for Michael to make his move. Michael got his opportunity to finally kill Laurie when she hesitated killing him to remove his mask and make sure it was really him. He had thrown Laurie off the roof to her death.

With his business finally finished, Michael returned to Haddonfield and lived in the sewer under his childhood home. A year after Laurie’s death, a TV production invaded his home. A reality show was planned for contestants to last Halloween night in the thought-abandoned Myers home. As the young contestants run into kitschy reality show pranks, including a producer with his own Michael Myers costume , they start getting picked off one by one by the real Michael.

With the help of a computer savvy viewer, the few survivors were able to lure Michael into the Myers home garage and set it on fire with him inside.

    Third Timeline

In 2018. yet another requel was produced with Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the role of Laurie Strode for the fifth time. The only Halloween film that remained in continuity with this version is the first Halloween. Most notably, it no longer considers Laurie and Michael to be siblings.

    Halloween, 2018

After falling out of the window, Michael ran and hid in a nearby empty house. He was found by Deputy Frank Hawkins and his partner. Trying to subdue Michael, Frank accidentally killed his partner. He then stopped Loomis from killing Michael who seemed to be surrendering.

40 years later, Michael was still being held in a sanitarium, now under the care of a new doctor, Dr. Sartain, who was planning to move him to a new facility. Before that, he allowed a pair of true crime podcasters to come in and try to interview Michael. Michael continued to show disinterest in all attempts at communication until one of the podcasters pulled out his old mask and showed it to him. The night of his move, the security bus was in a crash, allowing Michael to escape. He found the podcasters recording at Judith’s grave and followed them to a service station. He killed everyone inside including the two podcasters, retrieving a new mechanic jumpsuit and his mask.

From there, Michael drives to Haddonfield, where he abandons his car and starts to walk home. Along the way, he kills a few residents indiscriminately before running into Laurie, who, in her trauma, turned into a survivalist prepping for his return. She was doing her annual Halloween patrol, when she was able to get a shot off, hitting him in the shoulder. Michael would get away but would later be hit by Frank Hawkins, now the sheriff, with his car. Frank was stopped from killing him by Dr. Sartain.

Sartain desired to run unethical social experiments with Michael to fully understand him. He stabs Sheriff Hawkins, and kidnaps Laurie’s granddaughter, Alyson, and Michael’s unconscious body to reunite them with Laurie. He believes the only reason Michael and Laurie are still alive is their desire to kill each other. When Michael comes to, he kills Sartain but now must pass Laurie’s current home to get to his childhood home. Laurie, who is trying to protect her estranged family inside, starts to use the traps and weapons she has hidden around her home against Michael, forcing him into a confrontation.

She and her daughter ultimately lure him into the basement, where they trap him and set the fire, assuming he will not be saved.

    Halloween Kills

Unfortunately, the response time for the Haddonfield Fire Department is too good. They show up to put out the blaze and accidentally save Michael, who butchers that whole squad. In the meantime, news of Michael’s return and his first few kills starts to get the public’s attention, resulting in posses to find and kill him. A group of scared residents just getting home included Lindsay Wallace, one of the kids being babysat the night of his first killings, and nurse Marion Chambers, who was with Loomis the night Michael first escaped. They came across some children playing in a park and attempted to convince them to go home for their own safety. Unfortunately, Michael happened to be walking through the park at the same moment and killed everyone but Lindsay, who lost Michael in the woods.

    Michael escapes Laurie's burning home
    Michael escapes Laurie's burning home

While the sheriff’s department and the skittish residents center on the hospital where Laurie and her family were being treated, Michael just goes home. It has since been bought by a realty business partners and gay couple, Big John and Little John, who are killed after thinking he was a regular intruder. Alyson joined her boyfriend and boyfriend’s father (who survived a run in with Michael in 1978) in a posse and investigated the old Myers home. They found the couple dead, and the two men were quickly slaughtered by Michael. Before he could kill Alyson, her mother (Laurie’s daughter), Karen, appears and stabs Michael with a pitchfork. Karen steals his mask and lures him into the middle of the street, where most of the town had gathered to beat Michael to death.

Before the former Sheriff Brackett could shoot him in the head, Michael put on his mask and snapped, killing each of the people trying to kill him. Meanwhile, Karen walked up to Micahel’s sister’s room to look out the window and see what was so important that Michael kept returning to that spot. Before she could understand, Michael appeared behind her and killed her.

    Halloween Dies

After killing Karen, Michael leaves his childhood home and takes shelter in the sewer system, near an outlet pipe near a homeless encampment. His injuries from that night were so severe that he never fully recovered or attempted another Halloween rampage for 4 years. One homeless man remarked that anyone who got too close would never be seen again.

    Michael in the sewer
    Michael in the sewer

Nearing the 4th Halloween in the sewer, Michael would run into a troubled local teen named Corey. After an unfortunate babysitting accident where a child died in his care, Corey was unfairly framed as the next Michael Myers by a town that was collectively suffering from PTSD. He attempted to kill Corey but hesitated when he sensed a kindred spirit. Corey took this acceptance. He lured one of his bullies to Michael’s location so Michael could kill him. He then asked Michael to show him how to kill, which he did at the house of people who bullied Corey’s girlfriend, coincidentally Alyson.

Once Halloween finally came around, the now jaded Corey returned to Michael once more and tried to steal his mask, knocking Michael unconscious in the process. Corey would go on a very Myers-like rampage through the city, targeting the people who wronged him, eventually trying to take out Laurie, who did not approve of his relationship with Alyson. By then Michael had regained consciousness and tracked Corey to Laurie’s new place. After Laurie got the best of Corey, Michael took his mask back and attempted one more fight to the death with Laurie.

Laurie stabs him over and over, eventually slitting his throat and killing him for good. His body is then carried by a town wanting closure to the dump where he is thrown into an industrial shredder, so he could never “resurrect” again.
