Megan Rose Gedris introduced her comics to the world using the web as a medium. In 2004 she began her first self-published comic, the manga-styled Yu Me:dream, won Prism Comic's Queer Press Grant, an award given to a creator whose work is of interest to an LGBT audience. The grant made it possible to publish the first collected volume. In 2006, she entered the Platinum Comics Comic Book Challenge with her pulp 50's style sci-fi comic, I Was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space. The comic made it to the finals granting her another outlet to publish online at their very own drunkdunk. In May of 2008, Platinum Comics started publishing the first six issues of her series.
On her website, Megan states her reasons for publishing lesbian themed comics stems from frustrations of rarely seeing others like her in comics. Before becoming openly gay and still dealing with issue, she wrote other stories centering around gay men under the pseudonym Anonymous Manga. By doing this she hoped to avoid any uncomfortable situations arising from her work being traced back to her.
