Mary Wishire was born in the United States in 1953. At a young age she was influenced by newspaper comics and Mad magazine artists Jack Davis, Stan Drake and Alex Kotzky.
She began her comic book career in underground comix and got her first work at Marvel Comics around 1980 working on Crazy.
Eventually, she took over the art for Marvel's Red Sonja.
Wilshire has also worked on 'Power Pack', 'Ka-Zar', 'Spider-Man' and 'Barbie'.
She has also drawn two monthly pages for National Geographic's children's magazine, National Geographic World, called 'The Amazing Travel Bureau'.
Mary Wilshire is also known as having designed the original Blues Brother's logo.
