This is just something I noticed while browsing the wiki. I was looking at a series from the 1940s called Wow Comics, which was most notable for featuring Mary Marvel for most of its run. What struck me as interesting was the appearance of Mary Marvel on the cover over her first four appearances until afterwards:

After being essentially a miniskirt, the skirt went back to knee length where it stayed for most of the remainder of the series:

Even staying near knee length when upside down:

It is pretty different from the modern version, which is more like the length of the original:

It's weird how that stuff goes. I have long wished that they would reprint all the Marvel Family stuff from Fawcett. I'd love to read it.

@the_stegman: Oh well then I guess you are lucky that you don't have to wear them?

Wow..That's a old comic. And its surprising that they drew her a skirt that short way back then.Ppl from back then would freak out if they see how women are portrayed and written..I'm glad I was born in 86...And Thanx for the blog. The Marvel family from back then would be great to read..I heard PC Marvels were strong...

@kingares109: They look pretty fun, though golden age formats, concepts and content were far different than what we expect now.

@kingares109: In modern times stories are spread out over several issues, whereas in those days several stories would be in a single issue. Also the material was aimed for a younger market.
