I wouldn't say genius, but I do think they have much to do with each other, GL. Sometimes I think if they were from the same universe they would work in the same newspaper and Peter would go take pictures for Clark's articles.

I agree with all of them except Blue Marvel. Other than Super Strength and flight, they don't have any other powers in common. One is human. One is alien. One wears a cape. One doesn't. One went through racism and retired temporarily. The other didn't. One is married. One is widowed. One is a reporter. One is a physics professor. One was a soldier. One never was. One went to the Ivy League. The other didn't.
An yet marvel keeps on making Supermen: Gladiator, Hyperion Sentry and I heard they are popping up another that I can't recall the name..... "

But seriously. You have all those iconic heroes Marvel. Why do you feel the need constantly make clones of Superman which will only be remembered as clones of Superman and nothing more?
no one...to be a superman...one would have to be known by a whole lot of people...sentry and nova arnt marvel's superman cause the normal person down the road would not know who that is....the most likely person to be marvel's superman would be spiderman, wolverine, hulk, iron man, captain america and they all have different powers

The only problem I have with this is the boy scout statement. Recently, he has become darker, for example, in The Grim Hunt, the only thing that stopped him from killing Kraven was that, according to Arachnea (or however it is spelled,) he would become a murdering sociopath. Or in Back in Black, he beat the crap out of the guy who shot May, then went to Fisk and completely destroyed him in a fight, then told him he would be back to kill him as soon as may died. Plus, he has always been hunted by the law, although this is caused mainly by Jonah. Plus, he has always had problems with his life, even in the Silver Age.
It depends on what you're criteria is for "Marvel's Superman" it could be anyone really.

Gladiator 1.Real name is Kallark (which is you say it out loud sounds exactly like Clark\as in Clark Kent-Superman) 2.Same costume set up 3.Same powers 4.Similar weakness importance to the Imperial Guard is equal to that of Superman for the JLA.
Blue Marvel 1.Storyline time frame 2.Similar costume set up 3.Fortress of Solitude like Headquarters 4.Similar Powers
Hyperion 1.Purposely made to be exactly like Superman 2.Same Powers and Costume set up. 3.Leader of a team where every member has powers of JLA members (Spectrum\GL,Power Princess\Wonder Woman,Arcanna\Zatanna etc.)
Thor 1.Similar color scheme to costume 2.Icon of Patriotism as an Avenger yet he's technically not American,Human or from Earth. 3.Usually always physically one of if not the strongest characters on the team. 4.Very popular book
Marvelman 1.He's basically the Sentry without the mental instability.
Sentry is intended to be a Superman knock off. At least, that was always my impression. With the whole Void thing thrown in to be metaphoric, or something. Thor, I believe, also fills those shoes. Minus the whole metaphor thing.
