who is Marvel's Superman?
My guess is Thor
Spider-man.
- wears blue and red
- is a boy scout
- is a orphan
- everybody makes rip-off version of his Name / Costume / Powers
- works for the newspaper
- pretends to be a coward
- have a girl that usually his civil identity would not get
- has complexes about endangering his girlfriends and needs to save everybody
- wears the costume under all the clothing
- thinks he's a loner
- cheesy one liners
- huge amounts of fan boys
- get retcon all the time
- huge amounts of haters
- is an original character in the ItsJustaRandomGuy's "Hi, I'm a Marvel/PC" parody
Sure a lot of superheroes could fill up some of these points but only they fit them all in such perfection.
Blue Marvel is poised to take the position.
He has super strength, super speed, anti-matter blasts, anti-matter shields, flight, an underwater fortress of solitude, slowed aging, a scientific pedigree, military training, football training, a blue costume, and a letter on his chest.
" @Calvin: That was pure genius, Cal. "I wouldn't say genius, but I do think they have much to do with each other, GL. Sometimes I think if they were from the same universe they would work in the same newspaper and Peter would go take pictures for Clark's articles.
This reminds me, both of them have no sidekicks
" Marvel has had many attempts to clone a Superman Gladiator Hyperion Sentry Blue Marvel "I agree with all of them except Blue Marvel. Other than Super Strength and flight, they don't have any other powers in common. One is human. One is alien. One wears a cape. One doesn't. One went through racism and retired temporarily. The other didn't. One is married. One is widowed. One is a reporter. One is a physics professor. One was a soldier. One never was. One went to the Ivy League. The other didn't.
But both played football. =P
Gladiator...c'mon if he came to Earth and worked undercover at the Daily Bugle it'd be truly epic...
" @AtPhantom said:They haven't caught up yet. :PAn yet marvel keeps on making Supermen: Gladiator, Hyperion Sentry and I heard they are popping up another that I can't recall the name..... "" My opinion: No one. Marvel doesn't need one. "
But seriously. You have all those iconic heroes Marvel. Why do you feel the need constantly make clones of Superman which will only be remembered as clones of Superman and nothing more?
no one...to be a superman...one would have to be known by a whole lot of people...sentry and nova arnt marvel's superman cause the normal person down the road would not know who that is....the most likely person to be marvel's superman would be spiderman, wolverine, hulk, iron man, captain america and they all have different powers
And they both have a crapload of secondary similar characters" @GreenLantern555 said:

Superman:
- Superboy
- Supergirl (multiple)
- Power girl
- Bizarro
- Plus alternate universe versions that show up all the time
- Spider-girl
- Spider-woman
- Arachne
- Araña
- Scarlet Spider
If you would asked the a few months back I would have Sentry, but he needs shock treatment from Thor for the next ten tears. I'd like to say that it's time for Blue Marvel to step up and be the Superman of Marvel.
Thor
has been called the most powerful hero on earth
flies
wears a red cape
nearly world moving strong
can survive planet busting
wears glasses (when he was Jake olsen)
has super hearing
has super vision
has super breath
has eye beams(as king Thor)
is one of earths most respected heroes
founding member of the avengers (as aposse to the Justice league)
comes from another planet
is part of a race of super powered aliens
is earths protector
his main villian is not a power house he fights regularley but a mastermind (alla lex luthor)
presents the smae character contrast between himself and captain america that you get between superman and Batman
blonde teenage girl conterpart Thorgirl instead of supergirl
" @ComicMan24 said:Also both have a villain who is a twisted version of them, Bizarro and Venom." @Calvin: They do have a lot in common now that you mention it. "If you make a effort you can even add more to the list. Both lost all their family and now only have their old adoptive maternal figure. "
there are lots really
Hyperion
Sentry
Gladiator
Blue marvel
Captain britain
wonderman
some new guy
Thor
alll of the hammer brothers
all have very similar power sets
captain america as he is incredibly famous and a symbol
spiderman as has already been pointed out
also Nova's only similarity to the GL is that they are members of an interplanitary defense corps they have very different Personalities and power sets. Quasar is marvel's GL

Both fight against bald criminal master minds!
" @chris thompson:The only problem I have with this is the boy scout statement. Recently, he has become darker, for example, in The Grim Hunt, the only thing that stopped him from killing Kraven was that, according to Arachnea (or however it is spelled,) he would become a murdering sociopath. Or in Back in Black, he beat the crap out of the guy who shot May, then went to Fisk and completely destroyed him in a fight, then told him he would be back to kill him as soon as may died. Plus, he has always been hunted by the law, although this is caused mainly by Jonah. Plus, he has always had problems with his life, even in the Silver Age.
