With the success of so many Marvel movies over the years, it comes as no surprise that Marvel may start looking to branch out into television to expand their 'Avengers' universe. In fact, don't be too shocked if we see a live-action spin-off of The Avengers movie on prime-time television very soon. According to a recent report on Deadline, Marvel TV exec Jeph Loeb recently engaged in some very early discussions with ABC television executives.

Deadline's sources hinted that ABC, ABC Studios and Marvel TV may be planning on creating a television drama spinning off from The Avengers movie, but that it would not be a direct spin-off. The supposed show would be set in a similar universe and carry the same tone, but its unlikely we'll be seeing heavy hitting characters like Iron Man and Captain America on the small screen. The project is in the very beginning stages, so there's still a chance that nothing will come out of this; but wouldn't it be cool if something did?

There is no question that there is a lot that Marvel and ABC could do and that there are many untapped Marvel characters that could be featured on the small screen. What do you think of the news? What is your dream-team roster for a Marvel Avengers themed television series?

Oh, good god........

I don't like this "similar universe" phrase. One of the things I've loved about all the Marvel movies for the past few years is that you knew 100% they were the same universe and it was all connected. I don't want to see an Avengers on TV where the "Movie" never happened.
But on the upside, it could be chance to get some face time for some other cool Avengers that a lot of people don't know about.

Misleading title is VERY misleading. They're looking to create a TV series in the same universe, that is loosely connected to the series and will most likely end up being a high-concept cop show.

Sounds to me like that want to cut and paste all the humor of the Avengers Movie and make a TV show out of it. Though it's too early to tell, I don't like this idea.

Where the hell are they going to get the money to do that? Most TV Networks can't handle relatively cheap shows like 24, Star Trek, etc... This would cost a fortune for one character and they want to do multiple characters? Who are they going to fight terrorists? Cause if they aren't fighting a real world threat; it's going to drive the budget up even more. This would make the movie budget look like pocket change.

There is NO WAY this is going to happen.

I wouldn't mind an Avengers West Coast or Avengers Academy TV series. But budget would be an issue for a TV series.

Marvel never ceases to amuse, entertain, and disappoint me.

I remain indifferent till something more than talk comes from it. I will say that budget would be a factor for the show.

Give me a show with lesser used Avengers like Iron Fist, Spider Woman, Vision, Quasar and Black Panther.

I'll watch every episode.

I don't think this will really work, especially trying to get the big three in there.

Though, I would say getting a New Avengers roster instead might work, as they are considerably less popular than the main Avengers characters. Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, Iron Fist, maybe even Spider-Man and Wolverine (who are not among the "less popular" mind you, but good for drawing in an audience).

If they go ahead with it, cool, i'll watch it with the lowest of expectations. If they don't, I won't be all that torn up about it.

I think this could be a cool concept, maybe include popular heroes who couldn't carry a solo movie like Ms Marvel or Iron Fist. Nice way to bring attention to different characters besides the core Avengers, Wolverine, and Spiderman

They could even have each season revolve around a different character i.e. Season 1 focus on Heroes for Hire w/ Luke Cage and Iron Fist then have Season 2 revolve around some like Vision, then continuing so on and so forth in the next seasons

im still hoping for a cloak and dagger tv series, i seriously hink it could work... and i have ideas where the show could go? :P

Would be cool to see some Avengers from the comics show up. Like some super obscure ones. Or Avengers that will never show up in any kind of movie.

The only Avengers tv show I wanna see ends with the phrase "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" and is animated.

horrible idea, if Terra Nova was too expensive an Avengers show would be a lot worse, they'd be better off using a rotating cast of lesser known characters in like 2-3 episode arcs and call it "Marvel Spotlight" that way they can gauge popularity of each character to see if they warrant movie attention plus by rotating they can handle a smaller budget.

Put in smaller characters like Mockingbird and Luke Cage, it would work. Non costumes, just keep the vibe. Won't be hard to keep in line with movies.

This. It's got to be this or the budget would be to high. It would be awesome if it had the idea of the Garth Ennis book, "The Boys" where SHIELD agents go on black ops missions to take down rogue superhumans and super-scientists. They could cameo a lot of villians that way and also introduce more of the SHIELD agents like Carter, Drew, Dugan, etc. Could be good!
