What a huge mess.
Wow. I haven't read a book with so much anger at the senselessness of it all since the Red Hulk's Thunderbolts book came out (Truly awful, how I stuck with it for 12 issues is beyond me.) What was the point of making this five issue series? It tried to be some kind of Spider-Man acid trip gone wrong. It also tried to pack in substance and attempted to play itself off as a deep thinking book. Each issue I kept glancing at the pages, hoping everything would lead up to some wonderful climax where everything is explained. Instead this clearly out of continuity disaster(I know they say the Marvel Knights imprint is supposed to be like that, but it still doesn't make it okay) made me frustrated that people get paid to put this kind of stuff out. The one selling point for me(being a huge fan of Spider-Man villains) is that it would include 99 villains. Well, guess what: only about 24 of them show up in the first four issues then in about 2-3 panels, they slop the rest of the 75 or so villains into the story. I can recognize some of them if I had about a week to myself to constantly look at the horrible art, but everything about this entire series was such a waste of time. Unfortunately, my love of B-List villains made me want to complete the 5 issues, and even the reason I stuck with the series was bungled.
