Naples, Italy: the evil Sergej Orloff has managed to get hold of an old parchment found in the excavations of Pompeii. Martin Mystere, also in Naples to follow this story, clashes with some gangsters who do not want an investigation into the origin of the mysterious document. Martin and Java, not at all intimidated, continue their research until they find, in the ruins of Pompeii, a secret passage.
