Proper Japanese Title: マーガレット
Margaret is Shueisha's second oldest ongoing manga magazine. Launched in 1963, though Ribon (also a shojo manga magazine) is older, Margaret has become the largest shojo manga franchise at Shueisha. While Ribon was always a monthly, Margaret began as a weekly (years before Shueisha had a shonen weekly) and was able to feature long-running titles like Ace o Nerae! (one of the all-time most popular shojo manga franchises).
Within a year it also gained its first spin-off magazine, Bessatsu Margaret, a monthly which has now lasted over fifty years. It also had other spin-offs, such as The Margaret (more oriented for one-shots) and though the magazine slowed to a biweekly publishing rate in 1988 (which it continues today), it remains the most frequent shojo magazine at Shueisha and one of the few current shojo magazines that publishes more than once a month.
