Did you know Moon Knight had his own Robin-esque sidekick? Chuck Dixon and Sal Velluto weren't particularly helping the character shed his unfavorable comparisons to Batman when they introduced boy-wonder Midnight who features briefly in Devils in the House - Moon Knight's Acts of Vengeance tie-in which sees him team up with the Punisher to battle ULTIMATUM.

Other than the weird, and typically Jason Todd-like sidekick, this is largely an inoffensive story. There's nothing spectacular going on here, the only real thing of note being the "friendship" between Moon Knight and Punisher. It's weird to see Frank Castle so chatty and friendly with someone but at least he's not drinking beer and making jokes over a meal with Doctor Doom. The two vigilantes (neither of whom I particularly like) play off each other well and actually make for a half-way efficient team-up.

The villain is Flag-Smasher and ULTIMATUM (from the pages of Captain America) and we don't really see much of them except for the cute redhead who Moon Knight and the Punisher briefly have a firefight with. I actually think Flag-Smasher is a pretty decent villain (in terms of Captain America's rogues gallery) and am quite interested to see how he's handled here. In this issue he only makes his appearance on the final page, but either way it's nice to see the underrated villain long before he became another one of Marvel's stock "joke" characters.

But, as I said, there's nothing much going on here. I don't mean this as a bad thing, I mean it simply of a statement of fact. Having no love for either of the featured characters, I didn't find myself bored or frustrated with this issue which is surely a compliment if there ever was one. A readable and acceptable issue (even though it honestly doesn't have much to do with Acts of Vengeance aside from a few references here and there).
